6 months after its launch, Android Nougat is found on 1,2% of devices

Last year Google surprised locals and strangers by launching its own phones, the Pixel range, some terminals offered very good features at a slightly high price, it must be said, and that for now they have barely left American territory. These new terminals come from the hand of Android Nougat, as expected, and with a large number of novelties and functionalities, some exclusive to this range of terminals designed by Google and manufactured by the Taiwanese firm HTC. Android Nougat was launched almost six months ago and since then it has only managed to be present in 1,2% of the devices managed by Android, a very low adoption share that does not surprise anyone due to the fragmentation existing in the Android ecosystem.

If since the launch of Android, Google had launched its own terminals, as Apple did, another rooster would sing and surely the fragmentation of Android would not be as high as it is today, as long as Google had not offered this operating system to any manufacturer to reach the mobile phone market. If we take a look at the figures that Google has published on adoption of all versions of Android, we can see that Marshmallow is the highest percentage, with 30,7% followed by Lolliop with 23,1% and Kiktat with 21,9%.

In fourth position we find Lollipop 5.1 with 9.8%, followed by Jeely Bean in its different versions with 5,7% and 4.0%. We have yet to go even lower to find closing the adoption classification of the different versions of Android to find Android Nougat 7.0, which has a 0,9% share, while Android Nougat 7.1 is only at 0,3%. While it is true that the large number of manufacturers of Android devices is part of the problem that there is so much fragmentation, if Google wanted, this would not be a problem for the user, who is the one who ultimately suffers the consequences.
