Jeff Bezos has been in a spiral of innovation for several years now that we could not imagine, the online shopping magnate surprised us a few days ago with the purchase of Whole Foods, a powerful chain of supermarkets of North American vegetable products, in which it would be the first of its forays into the traditional market. However, we already know that Amazon always gives one of lime and another of sand.
This time, after the turn of the Whole Foods purchase, Jeff Bezos' company has wanted to give us more details of what his method of delivering parcels through drones would be. A clear innovation that does not seem too close to arriving, but that is becoming more and more possible.
It is clear that the idea is not totally crazy, but it is not something that we can think that it will come in the short term, there are many factors that can influence whether this idea works or not. On the other hand, the way it is explained in these procedural diagrams is quite clear and it solves some of the biggest problems we could imagine in this regard. Without a doubt, Amazon's R&D department is one of the most powerful in the world, and they will never cease to amaze us.
The idea would be to create something like a kind of storage station for content and exit by drones. These "silos" would be located on the outskirts of the city, with enough space, and will go with the merchandise directly to the buyer's home. To leave the product they will take advantage of the platforms or balconies, so we just have to let the drone park and pick it up.
The aspect that generates the most doubts is how they are going to guarantee not only safety pedestrians, but also drones themselves, which will undoubtedly become targets of thieves and criminals.
