Microsoft stops selling the Surface 3

Microsoft

It took Microsoft three years to realize that the Surface RT, 2 and 3 range was doomed to die even before launch. The limitations of your hardware, which did not allow to enjoy a full version of Windows, in any of its modalities, and they turned this device into a simple tablet without pretensions and obviously without applications, which greatly limited its sale. Finally and after seeing how Microsoft did not launch the Surface 4 at the same time that it presented the Surface Pro 4, the guys from Redmond have begun to withdraw the Surface 3 from the company's online stores.

At the beginning of November the Surface 3 was out of stock in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany… But it has not been until now when the company has decided to eliminate it completely from its online catalog. At last week's conference announcing the company's financial results for the latest quarter, Microsoft announced that the Surface 3 had its days numbered and that it would only focus on the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book. Microsoft's strategy for the future does not go through the tablet market right now, as this movement confirms.

The Surface 3, like the rest of Microsoft's Surface models, without the Pro surname, Surafce RT and Surface 2, made use of ARM processors and were managed by Windows RT and Windows RT 8.1 respectively. The Surface 3, however, was the first step to using an Intel Atom processor, which allowed to run a very limited version of Windows, which did not allow to use the device as a real replacement for a laptop in case of need. At the moment it seems that Microsoft has no plans to re-launch Surface device without the Pro, but everything seems to indicate that this range has passed away.

Do you think that today a surface 2 with Nvidia Tegra 4 and 32 GB of Ram would suit me? That despite being windows RT 8.1 I would only use it for basic things at the university and consume multimedia.
