Motorola will release 3 new Moto Mods every 3 months

LG's experiment with interchangeable modules has not been as good as the company had hoped for. We do not know if because of the price, without the need to go with them everywhere in case we need them or if the improvement offered is not as substantial as the manufacturer assures us, but the fact is that LG is seriously rethinking abandoning this module systems that hit the market with the launch of the LG G5 and it is very likely that the LG G6 will follow the path of its previous models, skipping number 5.

However, who does seem to bet heavily on expansion modules in Motorola. The Moto Z is a device that various modules can be attached to the rear to improve the quality of the optics, autonomy, sound, connectivity ... These modules do not force us to practically disassemble the phone as if it were the case with LG. The fact is that Lenovo seems to have liked this new Motorola initiative and wants to bet on this type of module, dubbed Moto Mods, and plans to launch 3 new Moto Mods every three months, with a total of 12 per year.

Lenovo will not be the only manufacturer to design and launch these new modules, but apparently there are several manufacturers interested in this idea such as JBL or Hasselblad. But in addition, it has also reached an agreement with the Indiegogo platform to promote campaigns of this type of modules, for all those users, with sufficient knowledge on the subject, who are interested.

We do not know to what extent Motorola wants to take advantage of this issue of modules, which at first glance may not attract attention, especially for the price of some of those that are already available, but maybe with time and if they do things right, it can be an excellent idea. Time will tell if this decision by Motorola is a very bad idea or if it seems to have hit the nail on how the future modular telephony could be.
