Ryzen 5 2500U chip offers higher performance than Intel processors

Ryzen 5 2500U

The reign of Intel processors is increasingly under threat. The great rival, AMD is stalking Intel firmly even in areas where it was safe and consistent. Until now, AMD's new line of Ryzen processors had been absent from a crucial segment, laptops. However, this may already have started to change.

AMD is already preparing a new Ryzen chip design focused on less power consumption. The first of them is him Ryzen 5 2500U which, according to early benchmarks, could be outperforming Intel's seventh-generation portable processors.

AMD, on the heels of Intel

The reason why AMD has adopted the nomenclature presented by its processors is not accidental, nor is it a secret. AMD has three main tiers of Ryzen processors that have been numbered 3, 5, and 7 to match Intel's tiers of i3, i5, and i7, respectively, but they could well be called anything else. This, however, makes analyzes and comparisons easier to understand.

Additionally, AMD has also adopted the suffix "U" to refer to processors intended for notebook computers. However, the Ryzen 5 2500U seems to exceed levels in terms of performance, at least if we compare it with the previous generation of Intel.

Based Results of the tests carried out on the Rzyen 5 2500U processor, which will have four cores and will use the new Radeon Vega graphics architecture from AMD, which point to a 2,0 GHz base speeds out of the box, AMD's next laptop chip is on par with or even beats the Intel Core i5-7200U or Core i7-7500U.

These results require some nuances. In the first place, the veracity of the data is not yet one hundred percent guaranteed, so we must take it with caution. Second, in these tests the Ryzen 5 U doesn't compare to Intel's latest XNUMXth gen line of processors. But despite this, in the worst case scenario, a promising future is foreseen for AMD that would be taking solid steps forward and threatening the hegemony of Intel.
