Samsung's AR Emoji could be used during video calls in the future

During the last MWC in Barcelona, the South Korean company launched The AR Emoji for your new Samsung Galaxy S9 y Galaxy S9 MoreBoth models have an application that allows you to make these cute personalized emojis. The truth is that many said that this was a copy of Apple's Animoji, but although it is true that they are similar, they are two very different things.

It is not the time to explain the differences between the two since this is something that we saw a long time ago, but now it is revealed a patented app on Patently Mobile, which talks about Samsung's AR Emoji and the possibility that these are used to make a video call with other devices of the firm.

A new application for video calls

And in a while since in order to use the AR Emoji in video calls it is necessary to have a front camera with facial recognition in 3D and at the moment Samsung does not have it. The new function would arrive in the not too distant future, maybe in the next version of the Galaxy S10 or later, but for now it needs software and hardware.

The good thing about the patent published by Patently Mobile is that it shows the system to use these AR Emoji in any video call and this makes the tone of it can be more casual. It is also true that the emojis that are created with the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are not as real as one would like, but they are emojis and therefore they do not have to be a perfect copy of our face. We will see if the patent progresses in the near future and if Samsung really ends up implementing it in video calls or not.
