Kärcher wants us to stop suffering every time we have to clean the windows, especially those that seem designed to risk your neck from the outside. The German company has just launched its new RCW 2 and RCW 4 window cleaning robots in Spain, two devices designed to automate one of the most thankless household chores. And yes, the idea is quite simple: stick the robot to the glass, press a button and forget about it while it works on its own both inside and out.
The new RCW range embraces a formula that's becoming increasingly common in the home market: democratizing technologies that previously seemed reserved for much more expensive or professional solutions. Both models incorporate sensors capable of detecting frames and obstacles, anti-slip wheels, and a powerful 3.300 Pa suction that keeps the robot firmly attached to the glass. The RCW 2 already promises quick and easy cleaning, but the RCW 4 adds more advanced features such as sensors for frameless glass, something especially useful in modern homes. with glazed balconies or large windows. The spray system has also been improved, going from two to six automatic nozzles for better detergent distribution and to prevent streaks. Everything is controlled by remote control, with automatic programs for quick, intensive, spot, or edge cleaning. Furthermore, they can work on vertical surfaces and at inclines of up to 45 degrees, which significantly expands their capabilities beyond the typical conventional window.
The most interesting thing here isn't just the automation, but the practical approach. Kärcher is well aware that the main fear with these kinds of products is seeing the robot decide to commit suicide by jumping from a fifth floor. That's why they've integrated a redundant safety system with an emergency battery that lasts up to 40 minutes and a four-meter safety rope. Obviously, it remains to be seen how they perform in real-world use, because theory always sounds better than poorly dried corners or streaks left by the afternoon sun. But the idea makes sense, especially for those with large glass surfaces who aren't keen on climbing a ladder every two weeks. The RCW 2 is now available for 219,95 euros, while the RCW 4 goes up to 269,95 euros. And seeing how the smart cleaning market is evolving, we will probably soon see these types of robots become as commonplace as autonomous vacuum cleaners.
