Analysis of the Wiko View 2, the characteristics of this peculiar mid-range

The last edition of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona left us many pearls, especially in the mid-range area, where the firms wanted to secure a greater number of users by presenting devices with good construction and competent hardware.

An example is Wiko, the French firm is still determined to offer the best balance between quality and price. That is why we are going to analyze the latest Wiko, the View 2, an all-screen model with a peculiar design. Stay with us and discover its price, features and performance, also on video.

As always, we are going to take a little walk through all the details that are worth commenting, from the design to the construction materials, without forgetting logically the hardware, one of the most decisive points when it comes to getting a terminal with these characteristics.

Technical characteristics: a restrained hardware to adjust the price

This is decisive and we know it. That is why Wiko has tried to make the correct tandem between price and features. The French firm usually takes this detail into account. To begin with, we are going to find a bet on Qualcomm as far as processor is concerned, rare, since this type of device usually opts for MediaTek. This could be a point in your favor, choose the Snapdragon 430 at 1,4 GHz, a well-known processor with more than proven performance and power consumption, its first glimpse of a mid-range or entry-level. Similarly, we find 3 GB of RAM dedicated to trying to offer as much fluency as possible.

The truth is that to daily use, such as social networks or games that do not require a special requirement, it has known how to defend itself. Maybe running a practically pure version of Android 8.0 has something to do with it. The reality is that it defends itself better than other terminals with the same hardware.

Meanwhile, at the level of autonomy offers some surprising little 3.000 mAh with fast charge, although by having the device in our hands and observing its lightness and thinness we understand the option. At the level of autonomy, we are not going to highlight anything, a day of basic use without problems, but we will have a difficult time getting there if we demand too much, the usual theme in mobile telephony. As for storage, we will have enough 32 GB of flash memory that we can accompany with a 64 GB microSD card if we deem it appropriate. At a complementary level we will have features such as Android facial recognition, fingerprint reader and above all an unusual detail in terminals like this, an NFC chip that will allow us to make contactless payments with the smartphone if we have a compatible service, a point to thank. It is not so much the fact that it continues to use MicroUSB connection for charging, from my point of view the worst of the sections of this Wiko View 2, a connection that costs to discard in the mid-range, not like the 3,5mm Jack connection for headphones that this device does.

Design: He has dressed handsome, the mid-range begins to shine

We see more and more devices that surprise by their design despite having a low cost. We are not talking about having opted for something too surprising, we have an all-screen front with an eyebrow and a shiny back with metal frames. Nothing that we have not seen already, but it is present in much more expensive phones. This is how Wiko intends that the View 2 sow doubt among those who observe it. That is why we have a 6 ”HD + screen on the front that offers a ratio of 19: 9 -and a density of 441 pixels per inch-, a section as technical as it is visual thanks to its 80% of usable surface. Although the resolution does not reach FullHD, something to expect on such a large screen, it defends itself when it comes to brightness and viewing angle, always keeping in mind its price range.

The truth is that its metal bezel It makes it extremely light, too, which makes us presage that the back is plastic and not glass, which provides added resistance. The reality is that the touch of the Wiko View 2 does not make us quickly realize that we are facing a € 199 phone. Definitely, we have proportions of 72mm x 154mm x 8,3mm in a total weight of 153 grams, comfortable and easy to use in all aspects. In terms of design there is little to object, it is an absolute reality that we are facing one of the best in its price range, especially for those who have nothing to object against terminals that incorporate the now mythical "eyebrow".

Performance: almost pure Android for reference

One of the most pleasant surprises we have come across is the fact that it includes an almost 99% pure version of Android 8.0, although without an agreement on Google's own updates, which will attract the attention of those who put software before other features. This means that hand in hand with the hardware, the phone runs noticeably more agile than other competitors with identical characteristics, for example versions of Homtom, Samsung or even Honor. Certainly the device is completely customizable and comes with very few applications installed natively except the Google logic necessary for its operation. This, from my point of view, is one of the most remarkable features of the device.

You can see the total performance both in the photographic and multimedia section and in the execution of the applications in the video that accompanies this post. It will defend itself without any problem with the most common applications such as social networks. It will show some obvious FPS drop when facing video games. It is a phone that is worth what it costs, without a doubt, and if we know its limitations - it has the Adreno 505 GPU - obvious, it will not pose any problem in the short or medium term, and forgive me for emphasizing it, but almost pure Android has much to see in all this.

Comparison with the Wiko View 2 Pro

Eel View 2 has a Snapdragon 435 at 1,4GHz and the Pro the Snapdragon 450 at 1,8GHz. In this section they may be a bit fair, but of course, the price they have makes it understandable that they are not last generation processors. The rest of the specifications

It should be noted, above all, that we are facing a terminal whose entry price is 199 euros. Although, we find alternatives like Xiaomi that are squeezing the market a lot, the reality is that Wiko already has a good loyalty user base in Spain, as well as the various points of sale where you can get one. This makes Wiko an extremely attractive option for those who are quickly looking for a phone with good design, mid-range features and few complications when operating, with a nearby technical service.

Although, I could recommend other types of devices in this price range, Wiko is a quick option that in any El Corte Inglés, Carrefour or Worten will be the ideal gift. You can get it from 199 euros, as we have said before, in his web page, or also in Amazon starting next May 20 at THIS LINK you can reserve it.
