Android about to overtake Windows as the preferred OS to connect to the Internet

Android

Until the arrival of smartphones and tablets, practically the only way we had to connect to the internet was through a computer, managed by Windows or macOS. But for some time now and especially since smartphones are making use of larger screens, more and more users are making use of their mobile devices to connect to the internet. PC sales continue to decline year after year, showing that the current trend of users is only for devices that fit in their pocket to perform any task related to the Internet.

The latest statistics that StatCounter has published prove it to us. StatCounter has published a graph where we can see the most used operating systems to connect to the internet from February 2012 to February 2017 and in which we can see how year after year Android has risen in the ranking to stand at 37,4%, while Windows has fallen from just over 80% in February 2012 to 38.6% in February of this year . All tip to that within a few months, Android will become the most used operating system to connect to the internet.

The guys from StatCounter, has also posted the type of device most used to connect to the internet, and in this classification, mobile devices have also dropped to almost half. According to the graph above, we can see how computers or laptops are used 48,7% of the times to connect to the internet, while 51,3% do so from a smartphone or tablet. This graph shows us the data from October 2009 to October 2016, so it is currently likely that the figures for connections from smartphones and tablets have increased even more.
