And although it is still not a novelty, it is something that can get a small improvement in future versions of iPhone.
Face ID could coexist with Touch ID for the first time
Since deletion on the iPhone of the recognizable and mythical button «home», versions from iPhone X discontinued fingerprint recognition technology. A security system that worked, and still works great on the iPhone 8 and later. With the new smartphones all screen there was no room to integrate Touch ID.
The decision to remove the fingerprint reader did not make the iPhone any more insecure. Instead, and this if it was an advance, the new versions would have facial recognition technology called Face ID. An existing technology that Apple improved significantly to make it "impossible" to circumvent. Is there a safer and easier password to remember than our own face?

Under-screen fingerprint reader on the next iPhone?
We have been able to see over the years how Apple "borrows" existing technologies and improves them into its own. A clear example of this is Face ID itself. Facial recognition was already in use on devices before Apple implemented it on the iPhone X. Will the same happen with the Touch ID built into the screen? We see how currently, devices like the Samsung S10 already incorporate it. Some sources claim that the next iPhone will be able to read our fingerprint anywhere on the screen. Anyway, as Apple never reveals data about its patents, we will have to wait until the iPhone 12 is a reality.
