Apple to remove 200.000 apps with the release of iOS 11

At the WWDC that Apple held last year, the company already alerted application developers. Apple announced that all those applications that were not adapted to the new requirements of the developer program would be removed from the App Store. Each new version of iOS offers improvements in both performance and security as well as improvements in the operation of the system, a system that changes with each new version. In the App Store we can find a large number of applications that are not adapted to 64-bit processors, the only processors that Apple currently mounts on its devices.

These apps may show erratic execution and malfunctioning on non-64-bit devicesWhile on devices with 32-bit processors, up to the iPhone 5 / 5c included, they work without any problem. Apple is sending different emails to developers so that once and for all they update their applications to adapt to this type of processors, with the threat of removing their application from the App Store, but it seems that the developers are not paying much attention.

To avoid this neglect on the part of the developer community, the Cupertino-based company has decided to fulfill its threat when iOS 11 is released, in this way if in September of this year, the expected date for the launch of the final version of iOS eleven, the applications or games are not adapted, they will be removed from the App Store. This could affect just over 200.000 applications that are currently available in the App Store.

The developers have had 4 years, since the launch of the iPhone 5s, which was the first iPhone with a 64-bit processor, to adapt their applications, but apparently they have only dedicated themselves to updating them by adding small improvements and optimizing them to the new screen sizes, leaving aside compatibility with 64-bit processors.
