Atenea Fit Pro, a smart scale with a multitude of metrics [Analysis]

Smart scales are already an essential part of our connected home and the rest of the devices that make up our daily lives. In this case, SPC advocates, as almost always, for the democratization of a series of technologies that, otherwise, would not be within the reach of the majority of users.

Materials and design Thinness Price

In this way, we will check if the new Atenea Fit Pro is really worth it or not and what its strengths are, without forgetting the weakest.

Materials and design

As with the vast majority of these devices, it is made of a tempered glass base. At the bottom we will find white plastic, as expected from a scale designed for day to day. Crown the top of your measurement bar which we'll talk about later, together with the central electrode that will be in charge of taking the corresponding measurements.

For its part, to work the device will require the use of three AAA batteries, of the “small ones”, and that are included in the package.

Athena Fit Pro - Foundation

Returning to packaging, we have a basic and austere system. As we have said before, in it we will find the scale, an envelope with the instructions, guarantees and SPC stickers, to finish with the small package for the batteries.

These are introduced through a gate at the bottom, same place where the button for the Bluetooth connection will be located, which will allow the scale to send the information to our smartphone and show it to us in a coherent way.

We were surprised by the fact that it is relatively large, we have 4 centimeters high and a base of 36 × 32 centimeters in total. All this accompanied by a considerable weight, taking into account the components and manufacturing materials, which reaches up to 2,2 Kilograms.

Technical characteristics and measurements

This basic bioimpedance sample shows quite accurately a large number of data that it obtains through its sensors. While the most basic scales use four electrodes in order to analyze the body composition of the legs and offer algorithms to estimate the data of the rest of the body, the Atenea Fit Pro uses 4 more electrodes to extract information from all extremities.

So things, the Atenea Fit Pro comes into contact with the hands and feet, therefore we have four electrodes for the upper part of the body, which are those of the measurement bar, as well as four other electrodes at the base for the lower extremities.

Athena Fit Pro - Sensors

For the latter use the glass ITO, a highly conductive glass that provides greater sensitivity to the electrodes. In this way we will obtain information about all these parameters, until reaching 28 different:

  • Body weight
  • body fat percentage
  • Muscle mass percentage
  • Body Mass Index
  • Bone mass
  • protein rate
  • Basal metabolism
  • Visceral fat assessment
  • body age
  • lean body weight
  • Subcutaneous fat percentage
  • water level in the body
  • Ideal weight according to measurements
  • torso fat
  • fat on arms
  • leg fat
  • muscles in torso
  • muscles in arm
  • leg muscles
  • Body type according to measurements
  • Final Body Score

Thereby we can confirm that the amount of information it displays is overwhelming for a standard user like me, so we understand that it is rather focused on a user who needs to obtain much more precise data from their measurements, either by professional requirement or simply because they want to get the most out of their exercise and eating routines.

To get all this data, SPC has decided to include in the Atena Fit Pro a BIA chip with a bioelectrical impedance method which according to the data thrown in our exhaustive analysis even coincides with that of some of the most accurate (and expensive) scales on the market.

As we said before, to transmit information to the device uses Bluetooth 4.2 technology, for which it will require the installation and configuration of the application that we will talk about later.

SPC IoT is your perfect companion

As it always happens when we talk about IoT products aimed at digitizing the home by SPC, its necessary companion is SPC IoT, a completely free application, available for both Android as if to iPhone, that will allow us to synchronize the Atenea Fit Pro and obtain its data so that we can identify the parameters quickly and accurately.

Athena Fit Pro - App

  • Battery life: Up to one year

Getting it to work through the guided sync system is pretty straightforward, we will simply keep the Bluetooth connection button pressed until the synchronization starts showing it on the screen, later we will configure the system through the guided system to add devices and the work will be done.

So things, When we stand on the scale and after taking the measurements, a loading animation will be shown, which indicates that the data is being transmitted to the smartphone. At this point we must remember that before proceeding with the weighing we must open the application to be able to observe the data in real time.

Within the application we will be able to manage the health data of up to ten different users, so we will be able to share this data or allow access to the scale to the rest of the family members.

Editor's opinion

In short, once again SPC has decided to launch a device that although it does not offer a perceived quality or an excellent user interface, it offers us everything that it promises us, democratizing access to certain information or the use of products that until now were limited to a professional environment due to their high cost or difficult access.

The scale shows a weight that is related to reality, with a margin of error of approximately 1% based on our tests. Regarding the data obtained through bioimpedance, there has always been some controversy about their accuracy, however, in my opinion they coincide to a high degree with the physical performance and diet of the users who have carried out the review. of the scale.
