Carpuride brings Android Auto and CarPlay to your old car

Today's vehicles are all full of screens and connectivity on all four sides, however, five years ago this was not so common, the screens were tiny and also an extra that not everyone was willing to pay if we had considering its functionalities.

However, cars are elements that last for many years, which has made those that do not have connectivity or large screens become outdated more abruptly. Solve connectivity problems in your car with Carpuride, which brings Android Auto and CarPlay with ease.

Materials and design

This device is essentially a tablet, just as you could imagine, it is simply adapted in the most accessible way to the concept of a tablet that we could integrate into a car. ANDIn essence, the tablet is made of plastic and has a front where the 7-inch screen is housed. The side is for the various connections such as AUX, microSD card and AV. In the same way, we have the traditional AC port to provide power, which seems to me the first negative point, it would have seemed more appropriate to use a USB-C port that allows us to take advantage of the connections of the car itself.

  • Carpuride device
  • 2V to Type M cable to power the Carpuride
  • arm with suction cup
  • dashboard mount
  • Male-male AUX cable
  • Double-sided adhesive strips
  • Virtual assistant support
  • It has a USB for charging

The device includes two types of supports, a base for the surface of the dashboard and an arm to place the Carpuride on the glass. Personally, the most viable option and in accordance with security standards is to adhere to the carpuride to the car dashboard. Thus, the packaging is quite simple and has no pretense, at least we note that it includes a protective film on the screen.

You can buy it at the best price as always on Amazon, do not miss this opportunity.

Installation in your own car

Installation is very simple, and that is perhaps one of the main assets of this product, the fact that it does not require any type of installation that modifies the dashboard of our car, and therefore, we can simply install it in two ways: Either using the telescopic arm with a suction cup that we talked about before, or through the dashboard support, this being, As I said before, the option that seems to me the ideal.

  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • 7″ screen with FullHD resolution
  • FM transmitter
  • Integrated GPS Navigator
  • Capacitive touch screen
  • Mirror Link with different devices
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

We are simply going to use the double-sided tape and place the tablet on its base. Now comes the negative point, we must occupy a cigarette lighter outlet to energize the device. This power adapter is not exactly small, so it will take up a lot of space, it is advisable to look for an alternative. However, this will be the first and last cable that we should have taking up space in our car because of Carpuride.

An interesting alternative, if you have the skills and desire to do so, is to remove the end of the cigarette lighter socket and solder the cables to said socket from the inside to avoid cables "through", however, this would already subtract a large part of grace to the device, that is to say, that it lacks installation.

In addition, the dashboard support also has a small hinge, that is, we will be able to vertically adjust the angle to better adjust it to our needs, something quite important considering the type of device, since driving safety is the most important.

Configuration

In this case we have carried out the tests with Apple CarPlay, despite the fact that the device has its own Operating System. Although it is true that the first configuration must be done in English, later we can enter the system settings to change the language to Spanish, where everything will be fully translated. However, I understand that the main purpose is to be able to use Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which we can do easily and completely wirelessly.

We will simply make sure that we have the Bluetooth and WiFi of our iPhone connected, We will go to the Carpuride settings and activate the Bluetooth visibility. Once done, we will simply connect to the device's Bluetooth and our iPhone (or Android) will automatically guide us to use the car version of its operating system. In this way we have access to Apple CarPlay fully functional and with no way to distinguish it from the built-in Apple CarPlay of any other car.

Now it's time to select the audio output, because although the Carpuride has its own speakers, I recommend using any of its other three connection paths:

  • Using the audio output of the device and the auxiliary input of your car, using the Jack to Jack cable that is included in the box
  • Using the FM transmitter Device
  • Using the Bluetooth

I recommend that if what we are looking for is sound quality and stability, we use the auxiliary input in case we have it and of course a new cable doesn't bother us. However, the rest of the alternatives are equally functional.

Editor's opinion

Navigation through the menus is very smooth, and fast, as well as the response speed. There is only some delay when using wireless CarPlay and starting music or podcast playback. This delay also exists in the official CarPlay already installed from the factory, and is something specific to the wireless system, not a problem with CarPuride.

The version that we have analyzed is available at a very competitive price of 219,99 euros, at a point of sale as common as Amazon and that gives us a lot of security and guarantee. In addition, they temporarily have an additional discount of €20 by applying the coupon on the occasion of the celebration of this reveiw. Also, We even have the option of acquiring a version that will have a rear camera and that could help us in car parks, although it makes installation more tedious.
