How to enter DFU mode on the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

At this point, if you have been an iPhone user for a long time, you have to be clear about what it means to put the iPhone in DFU mode, but surely you will be wondering How can we put our new iPhone 7 in this mode since it does not have a physical button at home and this was necessary to carry out this DFU mode and to be able to perform a complete restoration of our iPhone or iPad. In the case of iPads, the method is the same since the home button has not changed and is still a button, but in the case of the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, the following steps must be followed.

To begin we will remember the steps for the models that do have a physical home button, in this case all models prior to the iPhone 7/7 Plus, iPad and iPod Touch. The first thing is open iTunes and connect device with original Apple USB cable.

  • We will turn off the device
  • Then you have to hold down the top button until the bar appears turn it off
  • Once the device is turned off we have to press at the same time the home button and the power button for 10 seconds. It is important to count the seconds, since otherwise the process may not work
  • After 10 seconds we release the power button and hold the home button pressed for another 5 seconds about. iTunes will recognize the device and automatically we can fully restore our iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad

In the case of the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus this is the process

As we have already mentioned, the new iPhone 7 do not have this home button and therefore it has been directly replaced by the volume down buttons. Let's see the steps in detail:

  • We open iTunes on the computer and connect the new iPhone 7 with the Apple USB / Lightning cable
  • We will turn off the iPhone holding down the power button
  • This is where the process changes and now we have to press the volume down button and the power button together for 10 seconds.
  • Once the 10 seconds have passed what we have to do is release the power button and hold down the volume down button for another 5 seconds about until iTunes recognizes the iPhone

Thus We will have DFU mode activated on our new iPhone 7 and we can fully restore it.
