Facebook launches Marketplace, a new service to buy and sell

Facebook

We don't know where the originality of Mark Zuckerberg's guys comes from. As a rule, Facebook has always fallen behind other companies by copying over and over again new features hitting the market for services like Twitter, Snapchat and Telegram. But this time it seems that it has gotten ahead of the competition, partly because one of the uses of Facebook groups is for people to buy and sell what interests them, so we cannot say that it has been an original idea, to call it somehow.

To try to separate the usefulness of the groups, the guys from Facebook have launched a new integrated function within the application, both for iOS and Android, in which we can start adding the products that we sell or those that we are looking for. For now and as the platform is used to, this option only is available in the United States, United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia, but according to the company, it will soon be extended to more countries and will also be available through web access.

The only thing Marketplace does is put the seller in contact with the buyer, nothing more, neither is in charge of managing the collection nor does it charge a commission for the sale. As we can read on the Facebook page where this new function has been announced:

Facebook is a place where people connect and in recent years many people are using Facebook to connect with other people to sell or buy. This activity began with the arrival of the groups and has grown substantially. Currently more than 450 million people visit this type of group to sell or buy something, from people who live in the same neighborhood to people who sell or buy from the other part of the world. To help people expand the number of potential buyers or sellers, Facebook launches Marketplace, a new service for selling and buying things in your community.
