Today we put the magnifying glass on FreedomPop, the free mobile phone operator

FreedomPop

Just yesterday a new operator, baptized with the name of FreedomPop, and that is already on everyone's lips thanks to the fact that its main characteristic is that promotes itself by promising free data for all users. As if this were not enough, it also offers us totally free calls and text messages.

Surely you are wondering where is the trick or the disadvantage of all this that seems so beautiful. That is why today we have decided to put the magnifying glass on this new mobile operator to discover all its true characteristics, its positive points and its negative points. If you want to know everything about FreedomPop, continue reading here you will know all the information about this new mobile phone operator that has hit the market hitting hard.

FreedomPop's promises

The mobile operator FreedomPop currently belongs to the US company Freedom Pop, which currently has a presence in the US and the UK. Yesterday their presence was confirmed from next summer in Spain stating that they will be "The first completely free mobile service in Spain".

In statements by one of the company managers to El Confidencial, they will be free in all senses and to round off the offer they will offer all users a free roaming service in 31 countries, something that, for example, most traditional operators they don't offer yet.

The initial proposal sounds extremely good, and although we are going to discover the trick below, it still looks "very good."

The trick; all free, but with limits

FreedomPop

Obviously, advertising as an operator that offers free the possibility of surfing the network of networks, calling or sending messages is something very succulent and that can bring great benefits. Obviously, it is impossible for a mobile phone operator to offer all its services for free and to have a long-term viability.

The trick of FreedomPop is that everything is free, but with certain limits. Any user who becomes a client of this new mobile phone operator may consume 300 MB of data, 300 minutes of calls and 300 text messages. From that moment on we must contract one of the plans offered by the operator and which of course have a cost.

In the absence of knowing the prices, it does not seem at all unreasonable that a large number of users can get a great deal out of this new mobile phone operator, and that is that for 5 euros that the company's SIM card will cost, we will be able to have access to a large number of mobile services. The main key to all this is to know if 300 MB is enough for you, since in the case of being it your mobile phone rates will not cost you a single euro.

These are FreedomPop's plans for Spanish users

As we have already mentioned, FreedomPop's plans are to start operating in Spain as of next summer. Any user who wants to take advantage of the interesting offers of this new operator must spend 5 euros on the SIM card that will give us service. The lack of coverage will not be a problem and is that will use Orange mobile phone networks, after reaching an agreement with the French telephone operator, with which their service is guaranteed at all times and will not leave us stranded at the most unexpected moment.

From that moment on, any user can start to enjoy free calls, text messages and data. The moment we finish with any of the free packages we will have to buy some of the additional services that FreedomPop will offer, and that is where the business of this new operator is.

A large number of users consume more than 300 MB of data that they offer us for free, and there will be many who, seduced by the free calls and messages, will make the leap to this operator, having then to expand their browsing limits by paying an amount euros still unknown.

Of course, another of the most important features of FreedomPop is that Everything we consume on WhatsApp will not count for these free data, the most used instant messaging application in the world. This has not been applied in countries where it already operates, such as the United States or the United Kingdom, but Steven Sesar, the company's co-founder, has explained that they take this step due to the massive use that is made in Spain of WhatsApp.

FreedomPop

Pondering aloud

Sinceramente I think FreedomPop's way of getting known is absolutely sensational and as soon as it completes its landing in Spain with some advertising in different media, it will have a large part of the work done and in summer it will have a huge number of users willing to be part of its project.

Offering any free product tends to attract the attention of many users and can be the perfect hook to become a profitable mobile operator in the very short term. Free calls and messages are a perfect hook, and while the 300MB of data is also an eye-catcher, it is insufficient for any user, who will quickly be forced to take advantage of some of FreedomPop's plans.

At the moment we do not know the plans that the operator will offer us, nor their price, which should not be very high, because then for many services they offer, it could not be profitable. A large number of users do not need calls or messages, but they do need data and that is the key that FreedomPop raises.

What do you think of FredomPop's plans for our country? Do you think it will be able to gain a foothold in the difficult mobile phone market?. Give us your opinion in the space reserved for comments on this post or through any of the social networks in which we are present.

It really is very interesting and I don't think they will spoil it with expensive plans, I would settle for paying half of what I pay now at vodafon.

At the moment this seems like the stamp scam. I've been trying to register all afternoon. Mission impossible. Either there is an avalanche of requests that collapse the web or, I repeat, it is a scam. When I put my zipcode it tells me that it is not valid-I have tried with several simulated and no flowers. Does anyone know more?.
