Future Google Pixel (Sailfish) and Pixel XL (Marlin) will use Sony cameras

HTC Nexus Sailfish

While they agree on the name with which the new terminals will finally reach the market under the Google name but which will be manufactured by HTC, little by little we have more information about the internal components of the device. This time the origin of this leak has been LlabTooFer, a common source of information when we talk about smartphones manufactured by HTC. Via twitter states that both the rear and front cameras of both terminals will be manufactured by Sony, like some of the previous Nexus models.

According to the source Sony will be the manufacturer of the front and rear camera used in the Pixel and Pixel XL. Specifically sIt will be a 12 megapixel camera that carries the IMX378 code. The Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P models also integrated a camera from the Japanese manufacturer with a different code, IMX377. All this in terms of the rear camera of the device. Now it's the lead's turn.

The front camera of the future Pixel and Pixel XL will offer us a camera also manufactured by Sony of 8 megapixels, which comes by code IMX179, a camera somewhat better than the currently integral Nexus 5, the Huawei P9 and the Nexus 6P. It is clear that the camera will be one of the few components that both devices will have in common when they reach the market, at least for now, since the main difference between both terminals can be seen in the size of the same, the battery life, screen size ...

Sony has been doing a very good job on smartphone cameras in recent years. In fact, many are the manufacturers that choose to make use of the cameras of the Japanese manufacturer, thanks to the quality and durability they offer.
