Google Maps adds information about the speed limit when we navigate

Google Maps

Years ago, GPS devices were relegated by smartphones and applications that allow us to follow a route with the same directions as if a TomTom or Garmin device did it (update TomTom speed cameras for free). The latest models that these companies launched in addition to guiding us step by step towards our destination they also informed us of the speed limits of the road we were driving on, in addition to informing us if we exceeded it. This information can be essential especially in cities, where the speed limit is not always the same.

TomTom, like Garmin, decided to stop manufacturing devices and switched to mobile platforms, to offer the same GPS service but through an application. Although it is true that these map services are very complete, since they are paid, many people prefer to use Google Maps, which for a few months also allows us to download via Wi-Fi the areas we are going to visit and navigate through them.

But one of the most important flaws that Google Maps has always had when guiding us along a route has been the lack of information about the speed limit of the journey we are doing. This lack of information can mean that we get a fine, especially in Spain, where traffic indications leave a lot to be desired, especially those that establish speed limits.

But it finally seems like the guys from Mountain View have caught on and are beginning to offer this type of information through their application. It is not the first time that Google has tested this type of information in its application, since the v9.35 beta version had a switch that allowed us to activate it, a switch that disappeared in later betas.

But it seems that this function has been activated again, now by default, according to several images that some users have posted on Reddit. Information about the speed of the section we are in if you place it in the lower left part of the screen, just above the time we have left to reach our destination. At the moment we do not know how long it will take for this new option to reach all users, but hopefully it will be soon, since it was one of the great ones but it had Goolge Maps.
