Google Maps expands the Local Guides program with video reviews

A couple of weeks ago Google updated its Google Maps service called Local Guides, allowing upload review videos to the platform. This program allows users to express their opinion about the places they visit, as well as include photos and collaborate by answering various questions about the establishment. Despite having included this option, in a few countries exclusively, the company had not officially announced it, as it was not in operation. But for a couple of days, Google has activated the service in more countries and is sending emails to all those people who are part of the community that actively collaborates with Google Maps through the Local Guides program.

Thanks to this new feature, Google allows Local Guides upload videos of up to 30 seconds to the platform, videos in which we can offer our opinion and point of view about the establishment or place where we are, which will allow users to get a better idea of the establishment itself, without limiting their opinion to some photos that do not allow us to locate ourselves nor know more information about it.

But not only Local Guides can upload videos to this platform that can be consulted from Google Maps, but they are also owners who can upload custom videos in which they present the services they offer, in this way we will be able to obtain much more information in less time, information that will help us quickly get an idea of what it is like.

From the Google Maps application we can directly record videos that are automatically uploaded to the platform, but they are limited to 10 seconds. If we want to extend the number of seconds to 30, we will have to mount the video on our smartphone, since from the reel we can upload it to the platform without problems, skipping the 10 second limitation.
