Honor MagicBook, another Huawei laptop with great features and an attractive price

Honor MagicBook presentation

As we already know, Huawei operates in the consumer electronics sector through two brands: Huawei - the main one - and Honor, a brand that is positioning itself well in the sector and that provides very interesting solutions. And if during the past MWC Huawei showed the MateBook X Pro, now Honor launches its own bet within ultralight laptops: Honor MagicBook.

This notebook, with a very attractive finish, has an interior that will attract the attention of more than one. Also, this Honor MagicBook can be achieved in two possible configurations. Of course, both are based on an eighth generation Intel Core processor. But without further ado, let's go on to detail what we can find in the first-born of the Asian brand.

Frame reduction, weight under 1,5 kg and aluminum chassis

The first thing that will catch your attention is the design of this Honor MagicBook are the chosen materials. The company wants to follow in the wake of its older brother and achieves an aluminum finish, as well as a thinness typical of laptops dubbed "ultrabooks."

Meanwhile, the MagicBook screen reaches 14 inches, with a Full HD resolution (1.920 x 1.080 pixels) and with a 16: 9 format. It is true that it is not the highest resolution on the market, but to give you a clear example: the MacBook Air that is still sold at this point does not reach that resolution. Also, the screen frames have been reduced as much as possible and these are 5,2 millimeters thick.

Regarding the total weight of the equipment, it is located in the 1,47 kilograms of weight; a figure that is not bad at all and that will make traveling with the computer in tow is not an ordeal. We must also tell you that the keys are backlit to be able to work comfortably in low-light situations and the keystrokes are reminiscent of those used by Apple in its most recent models.

Two possible configurations: good RAM and betting only on SSD

If we talk about the power of this Honor MagicBook we will tell you that it can be achieved with two possible configurations. Although, beware, the changes between the two variants is only in regard to the CPU; everything else is identical. Both chips are the latest generation Intel Core (eighth to be exact) and you can choose between a Core i5 or a Core i7.

En both cases you will have 8 GB of RAM accompanying the processor, as well as a storage space based on an SSD unit. In this case with a space of 256 GB. Meanwhile, the graphic part is carried out by an NVIDIA GeForce MX150 card with a 2 GB video memory.

State-of-the-art sound and connections: USB-C and Dolby Atmos

Honor Magic Book Windows 10

Perhaps we will miss a version with the possibility of supporting SIM cards to make use of 4G networks —5 G in the near future— and not have to depend on our mobile or find open and reliable WiFi points. That said, the Honor MagicBook has dual-band WiFi; Bluetooth technology; a USB-C charging port; a USB 3.0 port; a USB 2.0 port; one HDMI output and one 3,5mm audio jack in case we want to use headphones or wired speakers.

In terms of sound, Honor has decided that this laptop should offer surround sound in every way. Hence, I decided to include the Dolby Atmos technology to make the user fall in love when he is consuming multimedia content through the laptop.

Windows 10, autonomy of 10 and price of 20

Honor MagicBook front

We come to the end of the description of this Honor MagicBook. And we could not do it without telling you what it will offer us in the battery part, one of the aspects that those who work outside the home or office and do not have plugs at hand most value. According to Honor herself, the MagicBook will offer you an autonomy of up to 12 hours followed by work on a single charge. That is to say: you will have a laptop that will withstand you without problems for more than a full day of work.

Regarding the operating system, Windows 10 He is the chosen one in this sense. While the prices translated into euros will be the following:

  • Core i5 + 8 GB RAM + 256 GB SSD model: $640
  • Core i7 + 8 GB RAM + 256 GB SSD model: $740

As you can see, it is a fairly affordable price that makes it one of the most attractive cheap laptops on the current scene.

At the moment there are no confirmed dates globally. It's more, we do not know if the Honor MagicBook will come out of China. Although knowing the great reception that their smartphones, It would be strange that they could expand the expansion of this equipment to more international markets.
