How to disable the Safe Mode feature in Windows

Safe Mode in Windows

With the use of little tricks and relying on certain functions in Windows we could get to deactivate the function called «Safe Mode» in this version of operating system.

There are many reasons why we could suggest doing this type of task, although if you are not going to need it at any time, it would be advisable that you at least try know that within the bowels of this operating system proposed by Microsoft there is a function that can be handled with a little trick to disable the option that we mentioned at the beginning.

Because it inactivates "Safe Mode" in Windows Startup

If you have never used Windows XP for sure you will not know about this interesting function, which has helped a lot of people to recover your operating system when the same, has stopped working properly.

Enter safe mode in Windows

To enter this «Safe Mode» in Windows you have to restart the computer and press the «F8» function key immediately after the motherboard logo disappears; a small menu like the image we have placed at the top will appear immediately, which will help you enter Windows with a few features disabled. Under this scheme, a person could get to eliminate the password to access Windows, the smallest of the house could enter this "safe mode" to browse restricted sites on the web or perhaps, a malicious person will try to uninstall important applications that you previously installed on Windows. In reality there are many reasons that could arise if a few other people have access to our work computer.

1. Edit the Windows registry to disable "Safe Mode"

The first alternative that we are going to mention relies on the "Windows Registry", having to manipulate a few keys that will help us to obtain the proposed objective. You should previously try to make a backup this "Windows registry" in case you manipulate any option in correctly.

  • Regularly start your Windows operating system (XP or 7)
  • Now you have use the keyboard shortcut: Win + R
  • In the space write: regedit
  • Press the «keyLogin«
  • Now navigate to the following path in the "Windows Registry"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetControlSafeBoot

You will immediately see two keys, which have the name of "Minimal" and "Network"; You do not have to delete them but we do recommend that you change their name so that the trick is executed at that very moment. The names that you could use are whatever you want as long as you remember them. A good idea would be to increment the letter "x" at the end of each of these names.

disable safe mode in Windows Registry

Now you just have to restart Windows and press the «F8» key to bring up the menu; if from there you make the selection for enter «Safe Mode» you will be in for a bitter surprise (as a joke), as the "Blue Screen" will appear immediately.

blue screen provoked

You should not worry about this situation, as this symptomatology is only a reflection of the change we have made in the Windows registry. If you start the operating system normally, you will see that the "blue screen" does not appear again. To reverse the changes you just have to follow the steps we suggested above and recover the original names.

2. Enable / Disable Safemode

If you are one of those people who is afraid to handle the "Windows Registry", we recommend using an interesting portable tool that has the name "Enable / Disable Safemode«.

Disable Safemode

It has a minimalist interface (as you can see in the previous screenshot), where you only have to select one or the other button depending on what you want to do. This means that to enable or disable "Windows Safe Mode" you will have to press the respective button. You can also make use of a password, this being a very important option to use because with this, no one will be able to enable "Windows Safe Mode" if they do not know the password you have configured with this application.
