WhatsApp has become the messaging platform reigns all over the world, thanks in part to the fact that it was the first to reach the market, as it happened with Facebook. To try to keep all the users of the platform happy, over the last few years, WhatsApp has been adding new features such as calls and video calls as well as offering end-to-end encryption of all the messages we send.
The latest novelty that has already begun to be available to a large number of users are the group video calls, a feature the company announced last May, but no expected launch date had been announced among the more than 1.500 billion users who use the app every month.
For now, while platforms such as Skype or Apple's FaeTime allow us to add up to 16 participants to video calls, this messaging platform it is much rarer in this sense, since it only allows us to see the faces of three more interlocutors, so we can only make video calls with up to 4 people, a limitation that does not make sense considering that it is the most used communication platform in the world, Way ahead of both Microsoft's Skype and Apple's FaceTime.
This new group calling service is also end-to-end encryption, like written communications, so if they are intercepted along the way, they can never be decrypted, and if they do, which is possible, they can take a long time.
To make group calls on WhatsApp we just have to make a first video call to an interlocutor. When it goes off-hook, we just have to press Add participants, button located in the upper right corner of the screen.
