En Actualidad Gadget We bring you an audio product again, you know that we want to keep you up to date with the latest developments in all ranges, and Huawei is one of the manufacturers that offers the most alternatives in different price ranges. After the success of the FreeBuds 3, Huawei refines the model and makes it almost perfect.
Discover with us the new Huawei FreeBuds 4, the new TWS headphones with the most powerful active noise cancellation. We analyze all its features, capabilities and weaknesses in this in-depth review, are you going to miss it? We are absolutely sure that no, join us in this new analysis.
If you take a look through the dozens of reviews you will see that many analysts agree that these Huawei FreeBuds 4 They are the best quality-price headphones on the market when we talk especially about open headphones, but we like to give you our personal opinion, and for this we have to test them in depth… Let's go!
Ode to open-design headphones
The in-ear headphones are very good, they are especially good if you do not drop them, especially if you have one of those few ears that the design engineers of companies seem to take into account when making their TWS headphones, they are especially good for performing quality active noise cancellation. Huawei has thought of all those users who have animosity towards in-ear headphones either because they drop or hurt us, and has decided to reach out to us with active noise cancellation with these Huawei FreeBuds 4, almost identical to the Huawei FreeBuds 3 in design, and which I sincerely contemplate as my only personal option. Despite this, in the Podcast that we do in collaboration with Actualidad iPhone you will have been able to observe that I have been using the Huawei FreeBuds 4i for months, paradoxes of destiny (I should never have given my Huawei FreeBuds 3).
- Available colors: White and silver
- Silicone sleeves: Green, orange, blue and black
With their characteristic "open" design, these FreeBuds 3 sit on the ear, without falling, without isolating you, without disturbing you. We have dimensions per earpiece of 41,4 x 16,8 x 18,5 mm for only 4 grams, while the charging case, which has evolved to a slightly more compact size than the previous version, stays at 58 x 21,2 millimeters for 38 grams (when empty).
The result is unprecedented comfort in headphones, and a design in the box that makes it a friend of those so re-glued pants that we wear today, it does not bother, it is easily operated with one hand and the build quality, as usual in Huawei, is especially good .
Technical characteristics
I have told you a lot, and I have practically said nothing to you. For the more advanced of the class we are going to give a series of interesting data, let's talk about technical characteristics. We have Bluetooth 5.2, Huawei is committed to the latest version available on the market to minimize latencies and improve connectivity. Like the rest of FreeBuds devices we have pairing by pop-up opening, that is, automatic synchronization with Huawei devices (EMUI 10 or higher), we imagine that with a restricted NFC chip.
We have a 14,3 millimeter driver for each unit that promise high definition sound, each earphone has its own motor to produce a greater vibration in the diaphragm, this translates into bass that will dazzle commercial music lovers, later we will talk more about this type of sound . The frequency range, thanks to the controller LCP is up to 40 kHz, so the timbres and high notes are reinforced.
Sound and recording quality "hache-dé".
Its sound quality is indisputable, we have specially reinforced bass (bass) and that lovers of somewhat less commercial music will be able to contain through Huawei's AI Life application, available for both Android and iOS. We have some top and middle notes of the best we have tasted to date, especially in open headphones, where it can be impaired by ambient sound or distortion. Huawei has curled the curl with the audio quality of these headphones if we consider that they are "open", something that not everyone will appreciate.
As Huawei does not want to leave behind users who deny in-ear headphones, it has decided to continue working in a niche that many other brands had already directly abandoned, thus offering us ANC 2.0 that promises up to 25db of noise cancellation without the need to insert annoying rubber in our ears. As each ear is different, the sensors and microphones of the FreeBuds 4 will analyze and offer a series of adjustments that allow optimal noise cancellation.
It is difficult if not impossible to know if really all these promises are being executed at the same time, the only thing we can judge is the noise cancellation, and I affirm without fear of being wrong that it is the best ever equipped in an 'open' headset, with a lot of difference. I hardly perceive interference with the audio quality and the cancellation is more than enough for daily use.
They also have 48 kHz HD recording thanks to two configuration modes:
- Environment: Will pick up the sounds around you in stereo
- Voices: With voice frequency recognition, it will refine the differences and leave the environment in the background
Hard to explain I recommend that you take a look at the Androidsis video in which we do a sound test of the microphones. You can buy them at the best price and without shipping costs, don't forget.
Autonomy and editor's opinion
We have a total autonomy of 4 hours per headset with the ANC deactivated and 2,5 hours with ANC on. With the case fully charged we will arrive at 22 hours without ANC and at 14 hours with the ANC set. Our tests have come almost exactly close to the autonomy offered by Huawei, which promises 2,5 hours of playback with only 15 minutes of charge. Obviously, we have wireless charging (if we pay an extra 20 euros ...).
In this way, the Huawei FreeBuds 4 is considered one of the best (from my point of view the best) option of open TWS headphones due to quality, manufacturing and compatibility. They are on sale on Amazon, you can buy them from 119 euros (149 euros usual price), as well as the official website of Huawei.
