Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2, a renovation to match [Analysis]

Huawei continues to bet on offering high-end products, beyond mobile telephony where an unsound political argument has affected the world production and sales of what was, until then, one of the market leaders. However, watches, headphones, computers and much more are still present in the company's portfolio.

On this occasion we analyze in depth the new Hauwei FreeBuds Pro 2, high-end TWS headphones with Hi-Res sound and noise cancellation. Do not miss this review, Huawei's continuous path in this product continues to be crowned as one of the best quality-price options on the market.

As on many other occasions, we have decided to accompany the analysis with a video in which you can see the configuration, the unboxing and all the details on our channel YouTube. Do not miss it, because it is the best way to accompany this analysis. We also take the opportunity to remind you that if you have decided, you will find the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 at the best price in Amazon.

Materials and design, always premium

In this aspect, Huawei continues to maintain a very high quality standard. Although these FreeBuds Pro 2 maintain the essence of their predecessors, we have slight modifications. The first is that in addition to silver and white, light blue is added as one of the options when choosing the device. They are still in-ear headphones, you know that this type is not a saint of my devotion and that is why the FreeBuds 4 are still my companions of the day. Nevertheless, The FreeBuds Pro 2 have a silicone membrane that generates a vacuum and prevents the earphones from falling out, keeping them securely in place.

Each earpiece has a length of 29mm and a width of 21mm for a height of 23mm, which will result in a total weight of approximately 6 grams. For its part, the “pill box”-shaped case continues to measure 67,9*24,5*47,5 for a total weight of 52 grams. Made of “jet” plastic, that is, shiny and therefore easy to scratch.

We have the sync button on the side, the port USB-C at the bottom along with an LED indicator for charging status. We will find another LED inside when opening the lid. The earphones slide through magnets with a very high quality sensation.

The contents of the box will be: Pads of two sizes in addition to those pre-installed; Half meter USB-C cable; Documentation; Headphones and charging case.

Technical characteristics

To work, these Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 they run their own version of HarmonyOS. We have Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity and how could it be otherwise, pop-up pairing is fully compatible with Honor and Huawei devices. For its part, any other device will be paired simply by pressing the connection button that we have on the right side of the charging case.

We have Dual Bluetooth, being able to connect with several devices at the same time, although in this case it will only be compatible with devices that run EMUI 10 or higher version.

At sound level, tWe have an 11-millimeter Ultra-Hearing dynamic driver for each earphone, accompanied by a planar diaphragm driver. In this case, the frequency range they handle will be between 14Hz and 48 kHz, one of the best data we can find in a device with these characteristics.

Likewise, each earbud will feature a bone sensor to enhance automatic equalization, an accelerometer, a gyro sensor, and an infrared sensor, all this to offer an integrated experience through AILife, the application of accessories Huawei IoT that you can download for free for Android and iOS. At the processing level, they use a digital crossover, accompanied by a triple adaptive equalizer.

Regarding autonomy, brand advances are met in our analysis, between five and a half hours and six hours depending on cancellation and volume.

Hi-Res sound and noise cancellation

These are undoubtedly the two most determining features of the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2. Huawei's intelligent active noise cancellation 2.0 is a high-sensitivity triple microphone ANC system to improve by 15% the result offered by the original FreeBuds Pro, therefore, its frequency range is wider, from 50Hz to 3000 kHz, with a maximum depth of up to 47dB, offering in short one of the best noise cancellations for TWS headphones available on the market, something that we have been able to verify in our test.

  • Ultra Noise Cancellation: Eliminates all noise within its range
  • General noise cancellation: You can create your own intermediate system
  • Comfortable: Reduces repetitive noises in quiet environments

For its part, the collaboration with Devialet has been decisive. These headphones have a high resolution LDAC code and two HWA and Hi-Res Audio Wireless certified, accompanied in turn by AAC to be able to use it with Apple devices in general. 990 kbps transmission is one of the highest on the market and the music will be played in great detail. The question here is whether you will find an audio source at the level of the headphones, we rule out Spotify or Apple Music for this extreme.

In turn, the microphones offer a spectacular result that you can check in the video that heads the analysis. The algorithm memorizes 600 million voice samples, eliminates external noise and allows us to be heard clearly.

Editor's Opinion

These Huawei FreeBuds Pro you can find from 179,99 euros on the Huawei website With an optional gift, they are positioned from my point of view with a technical tie for Apple's AirPods Pro and surpassing the rest of the competition as the most versatile alternative with better features. Its price is well worth it, as it happened in its previous edition. Huawei continues on the path of offering this type of high quality product and it seems that it is not something that is going to change in the short term.
