Huawei Watch, an outstanding smartwatch in almost every aspect

Huawei Watch

A little over a year ago, Huawei presented its first smartwatch at the Mobile World Congress, which, as we all know, it baptized with the name of Huawei Watch. Since it was officially presented, many months have had to pass for it to officially reach the market, but that happened a few months ago and it has finally fallen into our hands to be able to test it, squeeze it and of course analyze it for all of you.

Of this Huawei Watch we should highlight before getting into what is the analysis itself that it will make everyone who puts it on their wrist in love, and they will fall out of love, at least a little, as soon as they start wearing and realize its limitations and the little autonomy it offers us. Of course, on our wrist it will attract the attention of anyone and also offer us interesting utilities.

If you think the time has come to begin our analysis of this smartwatch and to review its main features and specifications.

Design, the strong point of this Huawei Watch

Huawei Watch

Since the Huawei Watch was officially presented at MWC 2015 all or almost all of us have unanimously highlighted its design as one of its strengths. And is that with a circular design, a strap reminiscent of a traditional watch and materials used for construction worthy of being able to be used for the construction of any high-end watch, they give a sensation both to the eye and to the touch very Okay.

Its case has been made of steel with a sapphire crystal sphere. With these two materials we can already realize the quality of this device, far above most that we can find on the market. Of course, its design and materials used are closely linked to the price of the smartwatch.

As for the strap, Huawei has not wanted to offer a rubber strap or a not too high quality material as many other manufacturers have done, and offers us a fairly elegant strap made of more than correct materials. Also, if you are not convinced by the strap that is included as standard with the device, we can always buy one at any jewelry store since it is compatible with almost any type of strap.

Finally, to close the design section, we want to offer you the dimensions of this Huawei Watch, since it is usually a piece of information that many people need to imagine how it can fit on the wrist. As for the sphere, it has a diameter of 42 millimeters and the thickness of the device is 11,3 millimeters. Placed on the wrist, at least in my case, it is perfect despite having a very small wrist.

Features

Next we are going to do a more technical review of the characteristics of this Huawei Watch. Inside we will find an APQ8026 processor, with four 1,2 GHz cores that is supported by a 512 MB RAM that is more than enough to use it without fear and offering us great performance.

As for the clock screen we find a 1,4-inch 286 dpi AMOLED panel. This screen is somewhat smaller than that of other devices of this type, although the truth is that the experience has been more than positive and we have not noticed this screen at any time, something smaller than what we could call normal.

Huawei Watch

Also in this Huawei Watch we find an internal storage of 4 GB, Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity and WiFI 802.11 b / g / n. Like other smartwatches it incorporates accelerometer, vibrator and 350 mAh battery which, as we have said previously, is somewhat scarce to be able to use the device for more than a day.

Performance

Smart watches have taken a very important leap when it comes to performance and this Huawei Watch is no exception. Thanks to its processor and RAM memory and the good optimization of Android Wear allows all applications respond exceptionally and without offering us any problem or challenge when opening them.

The general operation we could say is outstanding, although investigating a little in depth we have detected some delays when opening the settings, for example, although it is not anything of great importance or something that most users will care about. Unless you pay close attention, as we do with all devices, you may not even notice this delay.

Battery, a pending aspect for this Huawei Watch

Huawei Watch

The battery of this Huawei Watch is undoubtedly one of the most negative points and in which Huawei will have to work in the future. Most devices of this type offer us a reduced autonomy and that will not allow us to use the smartwatch for 24 hours. In the case of this smartwatch from the Chinese manufacturer, we find a 350 mAh battery that is more than enough to reach the end of the day, but that will force us to charge it every night to be able to use it without problem the next day.

In the different tests we have carried out, we have managed without any problem that the Huawei Watch resists running all day, except for a few occasions when we got up very early and tried to extend the autonomy until the wee hours of the morning. The only way to make the battery of this smartwatch last beyond 24 hours was by unpairing it and using it like a traditional watch.

The battery of this Huawei Watch has improved compared to other devices of this type that have been on the market for some time, but without a doubt it still has to improve a lot to offer us an even more interesting use.

In this section, we do have to highlight the device charger that is the most comfortable that we have known in the smart watch market. As you can see in the image that we show you of the charger, just place the Huawei Watch on the charging base and let it start to charge. In a short space of time we will have enough battery for a good time and without waiting too long we will have battery for the whole day.

Price and Availability

Currently this Huawei Watch We can find it in a multitude of stores, both physical and digital. The price can vary greatly depending on where we purchase it. For example today We can buy it on Amazon for a price of 299 euros, which is a sensational price, and more if we consider that the official price of this smartwatch is 360 euros.

We can find this Huawei Watch in black, gold or silver. The latter is the model that we have been able to test in Actualidad Gadget, although we have been able to see the rest of the models up close and in our opinion it is undoubtedly prettier. Huawei also has several official straps for sale, although as we have already said, a large number of straps are compatible with this device.

Conclusions

Huawei Watch

For almost a month I have worn this Huawei Watch on my wrist and despite the fact that its design makes me fall in love like almost everyone else and has been really useful on several occasions, I think these types of devices are still a very expensive accessory for the utility that we can get.

And it is that at the moment smartwatches give us very few options to users, for the price they have, and in my case everything is a bit more complicated having used this Huawei Watch with a device with an iOS operating system. I have said it hundreds of times to friends and family, and a few also on this website, but until smart watches do not offer us a greater autonomy, at least 3 or 4 days, for many options that they offer us or for its sensational design will not finish conquering me and seem useful. I already charge my mobile device daily and I am honestly not willing for my table to fill up with things every night with a thirst for energy.

Leaving my personal opinion aside, This Huawei Watch is without a doubt the best smartwatch that I have tried to date. Whoever likes and is convinced by the options and autonomy that these devices offer, undoubtedly spending a good handful of euros on this device from the Chinese manufacturer is a wise choice. If, as I am not convinced by the functions, or the autonomy and not even the traditional watches, do not buy this Huawei Watch or another smartwatch because it will be difficult for it to convince you, although you never know.
