We are increasingly accustomed to welcoming technology into the home with open arms, we are talking of course about home automation, this is why this type of products compatible with HomeKit, Alexa and any smart home product manager. Today we have in our hands a product from one of the most popular firms, Koogeek.
We are going to talk about the Koogek Smart Dimmer, a switch for our house that will allow us to do literally what we want with the lighting, from choosing the brightness to programming it and making arrangements from the mobile phone. Stay with us and discover all the details of this peculiar product.
Technical characteristics: The best in that price range
We have a minimalist white frame, as Koogeek usually characterizes, that entirely weighs only 111 grams. The dimensions of the product are quite important, however, I take it for granted from what I have been able to verify that we are facing a standard switch. We have 8,5 x 8,5 x 4,2 centimeters, it is quite fine if we take into account the technology it housesBy this I mean that for example it is thinner than the classic switch that I had previously placed in its position.
It has an input of 220-240V and 50 Hz, while the load that is sent to the bulb, If we have products such as dimmable bulbs, it will vary between 5 and 200 W. But what really makes it interesting is that it has Wi-Fi, here we have the first limitation, we have a 2.4Ghz antenna (802.11 b / g / n) for connection. On the other hand, we enjoy compatibility with both Apple's HomeKit and Android through its own home management version, the Koogeek application that is honestly quite successful.
Everything we can do with this Koogeek switch
The switch we are facing is capable of many things. Once we have managed to install it completely, we will be able to choose the degree of illumination that the bulb offers usWith a simple standard LED bulb we will be able to manage its brightness both from the application and through the switch itself. It has two degrees of pulsation, the light pulsation will allow us to physically control the brightness of the lighting, while a strong push will turn the lighting off or on completely depending on our needs.
Then we have the method for which it is intended. We have been able to enjoy its management through HomeKit, Apple's virtual assistant system allows us to do everything that we have mentioned before, but through our mobile phone. With a simple "hey Siri, light up the room to 50% brightness", and the magic is done, the switch will allow us to manage all this without worrying at all about such a key issue as the fact that the light bulbs smart are going to melt, sooner or later, while this switch will allow us a prolonged use without any worry.
Installation and use: It is simple, but you must know how to change a switch
The installation has not taken us too long. The first thing is obviously to disconnect the house from the grid through the electrical panel. Then screwdriver in hand we proceed to disassemble the switch that we want to replace - it should be noted that it does not switch, that is, we have to select a room where there is only one switch unless we want to make an electrical fix. We disconnect the cables from the previous one and We use the scheme provided by Koogeek in the instruction manual to install the cables.
We simply place it, we configure the system through the Koogeek application or directly with HomeKit, we have everything ready to go.
Editor's opinion
Our experience with the Koogeek product has been totally satisfactory, I see it as much more interesting than a light bulb, since it is a satisfactory solution for light bulbs since they have an "expiration date" that in principle we will not suffer with this product. You can get it on Amazon through No products found. for just 46,99 euros, little more than any designer switch.
