Kygo A11 / 800, the most premium audio cancellation [Review]

We continue to analyze those products that you want to know. We know that we are in the era of True Wireless headphones, however, there are still a good handful of users in which sound quality and autonomy prevail. Headband headphones are still very present on the market, But to differentiate themselves they have to opt for comfort and high technology, and that is precisely what it has done and if they are truly worth it.

Kygo with its A11 / 800, possibly the most advanced noise canceling headphones on the market and high quality sound, we analyzed them so you can know in depth how they work.

Design and materials: Minimalism and a bit of controversy

Objectively the Kygo Life A11 / 800 are pretty headphones. We have one with a polycarbonate base that has generated controversy. Polycarbonate is much more durable than it seems, in fact it tends to mold rather than break, so it is a guarantee of durability. However, it has less scratch resistance, and that plastic feel in a certain price earphone puts a certain type of user behind. It is true that the first impression is like this, but those of us who know this type of material know that it is neither cheap nor bad.

  • Weight: 250 grams
  • Colors: White and Black
  • Makings: Polycarbonate

The adjustment can be improved, but it has a huge amount of mechanical elements at the folding level. Each earbud rotates about 90º horizontally and folds flat. We have simile-leather coating on the upper headband and on the headphones, which is comfortable and fully collects the ear. We have a touch panel on the right rubber earphone that allows us to interact with the player, as well as three buttons (ANC - ON / OFF - AWS) on the same earphone and a Status LED for each hearing aid too. For connections we have the 3,5mm jack for the right and USB-C port used to charge in the left earphone. Obviously, the headband is extendable and has a metallic chassis inside.

The most complete noise cancellation I've ever seen

We have buttons with noise cancellation, however, it is highly recommended to install the Kygo Sound application (Android/iOS) to be able to enjoy all its features. The noise cancellation is simply sublime, perfect and at the level of recognized brands such as Sony in terms of standard cancellation, but… what if we want something more? All this customization offers the noise cancellation of these Kygo A11 / 800:

  • Absolute noise cancellation: We only listen to music
  • Awareness mode: Cancels 50% of ambient noise and 100% of human voices
  • Ambient mode: It captures the outside sound and allows us to even talk while listening to music, it literally seems that the music is with you and you don't have headphones on.

For example, to travel by public transport such as the subway, absolute noise cancellation isolates you completely, but nothing more recommended than him "Ambient mode" to go down the street without suffering any mishap. It is the first time that a noise cancellation has become so personal and gives absolutely what it promises in each mode, how do you do it? It looks like magic.

The application is an added value

The Kygo Life A11 / 800 are not completed if you have not installed the application. Never has software been so relevant in a product like this, and they seem to have learned a lot from their fellow Sonos from this. The app is an added value that elevates the Kygo Life A11 / 800 to an almost extreme point of quality, absolute customization and a number of functions that you did not know you needed until testing.

Image EQ lets you adjust the type of sound to your liking without having to juggle classic EQs. and that is appreciated at the level of simplicity and functionality. We also have a simple customization system to change the name of our headphones, turn on and off the various noise cancellation modes and find out in detail the remaining autonomy. Despite this, the application is not necessary to know for example the autonomy, since it can be seen in the accessories menu of the iPhone for example.

Autonomy, functions and technical characteristics

These Kygo Life A11 / 800 they go beyond sound, they try to offer an experience. An example is that they have a detection system that stops and resumes music automatically when we remove / put them, yes, like the AirPods. But it goes much more, to begin with they have Bluetooth 5.0 to stream audio and save energy, just as they have NFC, which will allow them to be connected to Android devices simply by bringing the right earpiece to the smartphone reader.

  • drivers: 40 millimetres.
  • Sensitivity: 110 ± 3dB
  • Response frequency (± 3dB): 15 Hz - 22 KHz
  • Compatible with aptX, aptX LL and AAC formats

However, autonomy is a relevant point at this point. We have a 950mAh battery, which is capable of offering up to 18 times of playback via Bluetooth and with the noise cancellation activated, taking us up to 38 hours if we do not use anything other than the cable (How outrageous!). To charge them we use the USB-C and it took us approximately 2 hours, which is not short. Regarding autonomy, of course, the headphones do not seem to have any problem and in my experience they cover exactly the manufacturer's data, something that is not very common in this market either.

User experience and editor's opinion

Pros

  • A lightweight and comfortable design
  • Best feature-based noise cancellation I've ever seen
  • They set up quickly and have a ton of features
  • Incredible autonomy

Cons

  • Materials may not make the best impression
  • The touchpad has some lag
  • The case is big, maybe a bag would be better

I am a lover of True Wireless headphones, a faithful user of AirPods, and it will continue to be so. Nevertheless, when I sit at the computer to work or when I go on a trip, these Kygo Life A11 / 800 take center stage. They have the most versatile noise cancellation I've tried to date and are comfortable to be with for hours at a time. Within the market for "premium" headphones in this category (not exclusively audiophiles) I find few rivals in terms of audio quality and none in terms of the amount of well-finished functionalities.

The negative point What I find, despite my defense of polycarbonate, is the sensation conveyed by the materials and their fit. I have also found a slight lag in the response offered by the multimedia control touchpad and the power and ANC buttons seem misplaced and horrifying to me. By cons, we have an application that is a sincere luxury, a spectacular autonomy, a very high audio quality and the most versatile and complete noise cancellation that I have tried to date. If you liked you can get them from 249,00 and with the best guarantees in THIS LINK. Although you will also find these headphones in specific points of sale such as El Corte Inglés.
