Microsoft launches Skype Lite, a light version for emerging countries

At this point, very few people are unaware that the main technology companies, not only hardware but also software, are focusing their efforts to serve emerging countries. India is one of the most important, with more than 1.200 million inhabitants and it is the country where Apple, Microsoft, Facebook and Google are focusing to be able to offer technology and software appropriate to the infrastructure and economy of the country. Although for less than a year we have already been talking about 5g networks, a lot are emerging countries where 3g networks are not yet so widespread which makes it impossible for many users to use applications that require a high-speed connection.

Skype, the favorite platform for many millions of users when it comes to making international calls, has just launched a lite version of Skype that works with low speed mobile networks, that is, where 3g networks are seen very far. This lite version of Skype, in addition to offering a much smaller size than the normal application, maintains the voice and audio functionalities but its operation is more than correct making use of 2g networks.

But as I mentioned at the beginning of this article, Microsoft is not the only company that has released applications that support slow networks. Facebook launched a little over a year ago Facebook Lite, an application whose requirements are much lower than the usual application. In this way, Facebook wants to expand its presence in this country, where previously its project of bringing free internet to areas without access was frustrated by the country's government, which did not see with good eyes that Mark Zuckerberg's company limit internet access through this free service.
