The mid-range and low-end accounts for the bulk of mobile sales

Samsung Galaxy Note 7

We have been hearing for months more than good things about Samsung's sales with its Galaxy S range and how badly Apple is doing in finances because of the "poor sales of the iPhone 6s." It could lead to think that the title is badly written, but it is not, the reality is that more iPhone 6 (a mobile launched in 2014) is sold than Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, at least those are the statistics obtained by an independent company for this second quarter of 2016. Once again, the real data goes against the doomsayers who predicted a hit for Apple and excessive growth for Samsung. Nevertheless, what is clear is that high-end mobile devices are not selling as much as it seems.

Meanwhile, the reality is that Apple's top model is still the best-selling in the market, and that is that the iPhone 6s continues to lead sales. These statistics are provided by Strategy Analytics, an independent company that has issued a report, in which, we can appreciate two models of the iPhone as the three best-selling smartphone models on the planet. The director of Strategy Analytics, Linda Sui, has communicated that device sales have grown from 338 million last year to 341,5 million this year in the second quarter of 2016. This growth is obviously due to the slight improvement in the global economic situation .

Meanwhile, Neil Mawtson, the CEO of Strategy Analytics has communicated that they estimate that Apple has sold in total 14,2 million iPhone 6s, 4% of all total sales on the market during the second quarter of 2016. Therefore, the iPhone 6s is currently the best-selling mobile, just on the same day that its successor, the iPhone 7, will be presented at 19:00 p.m. (Spanish time). The iPhone 6s has been vilified by many media, the same ones that have accused the device of being the cause of the decrease in sales of apple devices, causing an alleged drop in income, however, the reality seems quite different.

The iPhone 6 outsells the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

On the other hand, Woody Oh, also a director in Strategy Analytics he specified:

Apple has sold 8,5 million units of the iPhone 6 worldwide, placing second with two percent of the total mobile device market during the second quarter of 2016, followed by the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, in third place, with a total of 8,3 million devices sold. The iPhone 6 has been on sale for two years and remains close to the best sellers in many regions, especially in Europe. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has become popular.

We cannot stop rereading the paragraph in which they indicate that a model launched in September 2014 is today, September 2016, in the second position of the best-selling devices worldwide. This means that the one proposed as the only champion in the battle against the iPhone, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, is still stagnant two years ago in sales. However, what really causes us curiosity is the interest of certain media in burying what has been until now the most popular model of the apple brand.

The mid-range to power

The reality instead is different, other brands take over the rest of the market, this means that more and more users are opting for the mid-range of Android, a mid-range that is reaching very high levels of quality and performance and they pose as a serious competitor, not to specific devices, but to the high-end in general. Brands such as Huawei and Motorola, specialists in low-cost and mid-range devices, are launching competent devices that are winning a large part of the market, which has represented 311 million devices out of 338 sold in this second quarter of 2016.
