Motorola is more alive than ever, proof of this is the good list of launches that have been happening over the months, in this case offering us a fairly well resolved mid-range device that, without standing out too much in anything, will satisfy the needs of its users.
Therefore, we analyze in depth the new Motorola Edge 50 Fusion, which stands out for its careful design and its "vegan leather" finishes that will not leave you indifferent. Discover with us all the features of this device, and if it is truly worth it compared to other competing devices.
Design and materials
We are facing a relatively well finished device. Made of aluminum, we cannot but inevitably remember the latest Huawei "P" models, since the design is practically identical in each curve, without using the same manufacturing materials. In this case, Motorola has opted for aluminum for the frame, and a vegan leather vinyl for the back.
- Size: 161,9 x 73,1 x 7,9 millimeters
- Weight: 174,9 grams
We will be able to purchase it in blue (PMMA), light blue (vegan leather) and the unit that we have analyzed in fuchsia, with vegan suede on the back. For its glass, it mounts a somewhat old but efficient version of the Corning Gorilla Glass (its fifth edition), and surprisingly it has IP68 certification against water, which allows this device to have extra resistance.
Those of you who have been following me for a long time, well You know that I am not a lover of curved screens, and I still am not, I find them as beautiful as they are inefficient, and prone to breakage, with the consequent cost of repair.
Little more to say about it. It is evident that it is not an innovative device in terms of design, as evident is the fact that it is well manufactured, well finished and offers the user a satisfactory sensation in daily use. The box includes, in addition to a pinkish case made of rigid material, a 68W charger (which is appreciated) and the USB-C cable, so this Moto Edge 50 Fusion does not lack any details.
Technical characteristics
We now go to the purely technological, to the hardware. Inside, we find the processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 2nd generation, accompanied by 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM, very common in the mid-range, and 512GB UFS 2.2 storage Also common in the mid-range, although we can purchase a cheaper version with 256GB total storage.
At the level of sensors, we have the following:
- Proximity sensor
- Ambient light sensor
- Accelerometer
- Gyroscope
- SAR sensor
- Electronic compass
The result is a AnTuTu of 776.541 which is not bad at all, in the top 15% of mobile devices that have been analyzed. Although I have not found exact reference in the characteristics to the GPU, With the analyzes we have been able to know that it creates a Adreno 710 mid-range, enough to run the vast majority of applications from the Google Play Store without any problem.
- Battery: 5.000 mAh with maximum charge of 68W
In this sense, the device that runs Android 14 It is well resolved, it works fluently, although at the beginning we found problems in the execution of some native applications that have been resolved as the days went by. The customization layer is minimal, which improves the user experience.
Multimedia section
The screen draws attention upon first contact, we have a panel 6,7 inches with technology pOLED, that although it does not have an extravagant resolution (1080 x 2400 FHD+), it is more than enough to enjoy, especially with its good color adjustment and pure blacks. The result is 393 pixels per inch.
The refresh rate reaches 144Hz, while the maximum peak brightness is very high, up to 1.600 nits in HDR settings, And indeed, it has HDR10+ on this quite striking 10-bit panel.
As for the sound, another of its attractive points, stereo speakers compatible with Dolby Atmos technology, as well as a double microphone to be able to isolate ourselves during calls. The result is a device that sounds quite powerful and quite good, on par with higher-end devices, delighting its users. It doesn't have a headphone jack, nor do we need one at this point in the movie.
Connectivity and cameras
We move on to connectivity, where we do not lack anything. We have 5G (sub-6), and Bluetooth 5.2, but the important thing is to have Dual band WiFi, as is the case, accompanied by NFC to be able to make mobile payments without problems, as well as all the navigation systems available on the market, that is: GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, Beidou and QZSS. Finally, we have the possibility of having a simultaneous dual SIM, however, one of them must be eSIM.
As for the cameras, let's start with the technical detail:
- Main camera: Standard 50MP sensor with optical stabilization (OIS) and f/1.88 aperture.
- Secondary camera: 13MP Ultra Wide Angle with f/2.2 aperture.
- Front camera: Standard 32MP sensor with f/2.45 aperture.
All include various options such as dual capture, slow motion, macro photography, 24/35/50 millimeter shooting mode and integrations with Google Artificial Intelligence. The video capture of the main camera will reach up to 4K resolution at 30FPS, as well as the Ultra Wide Angle and front cameras.
As you can see in the sample photographs, we are looking at a sensor that defends itself quite well in good lighting situations, and does not suffer too much when the light goes out, at least the main sensor, obviously things change with the 13MP secondary one.
Editor's Opinion
The device has a quite competitive price, it can be purchased from € 365 on Amazon, a quite competitive price, far from the high range, and which more than justifies both its technical characteristics and its operation.
Without a doubt, we are facing a very good option within the mid-range in terms of the quality-price ratio that we have mentioned above. Although it does not bring excessive freshness to a market dominated by Asian firms, it is true that, If you find the design and screen attractive, there is little reason not to buy it.
