The mythical IBM Model F goes on sale again

What has given us for mechanical keyboards in the year 2017? Well, that's right, mechanical keyboards that were almost extinct have returned to the most popular scene, so much so that they are getting much more and better fame than membrane keyboards, despite the fact that companies like Apple have innovated significantly in development of this type of technology.

The one that you could least imagine would return and that is already here is the IBM Model F, a mechanical keyboard from the eighties that happens to be easy to see still working, the magic of the pre-digital age. Let's take a look at the features of this new and old keyboard.

For this we only have to go to the website of ModelFKeyboards, an online store where we can find different designs, but with the same magic that the Model F hid. The key is the switch technology for which IBM has held the patent since 1978. The problem is the same as always, nostalgia and quality in technological terms will be quite expensive, more specifically you will not find a model less than 325 dollars , and all this without a single key.

If we want to put keys, either we look for them in an external provider or we spend another 35 dollars. In short, if we want to get one of these we will have to squeeze the credit card a lot, even above what we find in current brands. It is clear that we are facing a rather niche product, in fact for the current millennial it will be difficult to adapt to those keys thought in the eighties. But there will always be lovers of this type of technology, and from my humble membrane keyboard on the MacBook Pro Retina, I have to say that nothing like typing on the mechanical keyboard.
