Netflix is officially compatible with the Firefox browser on Linux

For 4 years, the guys at Netflix abandoned Silverlight technology, which is still used today by other similar services, making use of the advantages offered by HTML 5 technology, so that it is not necessary to install any blissful plugin. Since Netflix adopted HTML 5 technology, Netflix users can make use of the Chrome, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Safari or Firefox browsers on almost all operating systems. If you are Linux users and you have a Netflix subscription, you could only use Chrome to access the content, but fortunately for a couple of days, Firefox for Linux already supports the streaming video service without having to add any plugin.

This is possible thanks to the compatibility that the guys at the Mozilla Foundation have implemented in the latest version of Firefox for Linux, giving support for EME (Encripted Media Extension). If you are a Linux user, you can now access the Netflix page directly from your computerr without having to use any other plugins.

In order to offer current compatibility with all operating systems and browsers, Netflix has worked together with Google, Microsoft, Apple and Mozilla to make this possible. Currently Microsoft Edge is the only browser that allows us to enjoy 4K quality content from Netflix, a service that will eventually reach other browsers.

Thanks to HTML 5 technology, the Netflix is available on all platforms allowing us to enjoy this streaming video service from any computer. Netflix is currently the largest streaming video service currently available worldwide except in four countries, countries that due to censorship or are in a hostile situation with the United States, cannot offer its extensive catalog.
