Qualcomm denounces Meizu for the use of panthers without going through the box

The only way to protect the intellectual property of the designs and products of the companies is to patent it, in this way they prevent other companies from making use of them without first going through the box. taking advantage of the money invested by a company to obtain that design, product, device ... In recent years, patent trolls have become fashionable, companies that buy other companies with various patents registered in their name to be able to denounce large companies and thus be able to obtain a large number of millions. Currently Apple is immersed in a litigation with a company of this type that is demanding more than 300 million companies, but it is not the only one since Microsoft also had to go through the hoop of these companies a few years ago.

If you are a large company and you make use of patents without paying for them in advance, most likely the owner of the patent pulls himself over to demand the corresponding payment. And that's what Qualcomm has tried to do with the Meizu company. In June, the North American company filed a patent lawsuit in China against the Chinese phone manufacturer Meizu, since according to Qualcomm Meizu uses several of its patents related to 3G and 4G communications without the corresponding license.

Being a complaint filed in China, this news did not have the importance it should have, since in China everyone knows what happens with this type of complaint: nothing. But Qualcomm just filed new complaints against Meizu in Germany, France and the United States, where the Chinese company is selling the terminals that make use of Qualcomm's patents.

According to Qualcomm Vice President Don Rosenbug:

Meizu's refusal to negotiate a licensing agreement in good faith has obligated us to legally protect our rights to the patents they are using without a license.

We don't quite understand Meizu's refusal to reach an agreement since outside of China, it has everything to lose. Now that the company had begun its international expansion, it will stop in its tracks if it does not reconsider and reach an agreement with Qualcomm.
