The ZTE company has partnered with the US operator AT&T to launch an exclusive affordable portable projector. Enjoying movies on “the big screen” from home, or from anywhere, is possible thanks to this small, but powerful projector.
How It Works
The ZTE Spro 2 is small in size, but a bit heavy, although it is not uncomfortable to carry. It has a powerful battery that will allow us to use it without plugging it into the mains for about two and a half hours, if we are watching a movie, so we can take it with us anywhere.
To handle it, all we need is to go to your five inch screen and whose operation is highly intuitive, especially for those users who are used to the Android operating system. On its main screen, on the left side, we will find options to activate and adjust the projector. Unfortunately, the Spro 2 does not integrate a wheel that allows us to manually adjust the dimensions of the image on the screen or on the wall, which forces us to zoom in or out depending on the size of the image we want to project.
The rest of the menu is easy to handle, as they include traditional Android apps (like the Google package, with Gmail and Google Play Music for example and without neglecting YouTube, of course) and we will have direct access to the Google Play Store to download any application we want). One that cannot be missed, of course, is Netflix, which will provide us with a different and luxurious viewing experience, for an affordable price.
Integrated
The Chinese manufacturer ZTE has done a great job in this department, especially if we compare the ZTE Spro 2 with its predecessor, the ZTE Projector Hotspot. The projector is covered with an apparent aluminum case that is actually plastic, so if we do not want damage to the paint, we will have to be careful with possible bumps and scratches.
The touch screen ranges from four to five inches and also its resolution, which now reaches 1280 x 820 pixels. The integrated operating system is Android 4.4 KitKat with colorful icons that facilitate navigation.
Its dimensions are 134 x 131 mm, with a thickness of 31 mm and a weight of 550 grams.
Hotspot also included
ZTE wants us to be able to enjoy our projector anywhere. Hence, the device has an internal battery and also integrates Hotspot. With the LTE speed provided by AT&T We can take the player anywhere and enjoy a streaming movie without loss of quality (yes, we will have to avoid congested areas).
With the hotspot built into this ZTE Spro 2 We can share the connection of our projector with up to ten devices at the same time. Therefore, not only will we be able to surf the internet from the projector itself, but we will also have the possibility of offering connection to our friends and family and sharing files through a private network.
Don't have Wifi or LTE? No problem
Another positive aspect of this projector is that it provides several ports that allow us to quickly reproduce any video, audio or presentation (ideal for the office). The ZTE Spro 2 has an input port USB, HDMI and a microSD card reader. Another option is to enable the Wi-Fi connection at home or at work to share any type of file between the projector and computers. Inside the projector we can store up to 16GB of files.
These ports expand the possibilities of using the device, which not only acts as a multimedia entertainment center at home, but can also be used to Presentations in class, at work, or even to watch a movie in a park. The image can be projected with sufficient quality and sharpness on any flat surface. We have done tests on a yellowish wall, obtaining good results. We also bought a white panel and the image quality was optimal.
The projection can reach up to ten feet (just over three meters), but the speakers will not be too powerful if we want to use them, for example, outdoors. For this it is advisable to use the jack connector to connect powerful speakers or we can also make use of the device Bluetooth connectivity.
