Construction materials of the Wiko Wim

To try to lower the costs of the terminal, without resorting to reducing its power, a technique used by many manufacturers, Wiko has chosen to use a fairly resistant plastic back cover, along with aluminum frames, which in the event of any fall the same color. The volume control buttons offer us a rough surface, as does the terminal's on and off button, which allow us to differentiate them from the edge of the terminal in a simple way.

Wiko Wim screen

The screen of the Wiko Wim, sins of what Samsung has always been criticized, one of the first manufacturers to start implementing AMOLED screens in their terminals, a screen with which they always showed us colors that are very saturated and far from reality. The Wiko Wim screen, sins the same, so we must take that aspect into account especially when using the camera, because sometimes the screen can offer us very vivid colors that we will not find later when we pass the photographs to the computer. The screen, with a resolution of 5,5 inches and 400 ppi, offers us a more than good quality when it comes to enjoying movies or games, having no problem in this regard.

Wiko Wim performance

The Wiko Wim offers us a 626 GHz 8-core Snapdragon 2,2 processor, and is accompanied by 4GB of RAM, along with 64GB of storage that we can expand by using a microSD card. The Wiko Wim's battery reaches 3.200 mAh and it supports fast charging. The whole set offers us a more than remarkable performance, without reaching the outstanding one, but just and necessary so that we can enjoy a terminal for a few years without being forced to have to renew the device at the first time. exchange.

In games in which the terminal has to offer its maximum performance, it seems that sometimes it gets a little stuck only when loading the games or the game itself, never when we are playing. Thanks to the combination of the 4 GB of RAM and the Snapdragon 626 processor, the Wiko Wim we allows you to record videos in 4k quality at 30 fps, with more than remarkable results and where we are not going to miss a higher quality, unless we are video experts.

Wiko Wim connections

Wiko has opted for leave out the USB Type-C connection and this terminal continues to opt for the microUSB connection when charging the device and transferring its content to the computer. By continuing to use the microUSB connection, Wiko is forced to continue offering the headphone jack to be able to enjoy the content of our smartphone without disturbing those around us. If I had implemented the USB-C connection, I could have dispensed with the jack, since this port is capable of charging the device while allowing us to transmit audio and video in both directions, but it seems that for this, we will have to wait to the next generation.

Wiko Wim cameras

In this sense, I have to mention the Wiko Wim screen again, an AMOLED-type screen that offers us very saturated colors, compared to the OLED or LCD screens that we can currently find on the market. This high saturation makes the colors shown on the screen when taking a photograph do not match reality and sometimes, especially in low light, the results are quite disastrous.

The operation of the double rear camera in suitable lighting conditions is more than good, offering us the option of always using the double camera when taking captures, a process that slows down each capture, but allows us to later use the blur system offered by the terminal, establishing which is the area we want focused and which is not, a system that works very well and offers us spectacular results. Once we have set the blur level and save the results, we cannot edit the photo again.

If we use the mobile at night, we run into the problem of color saturation, especially yellow, which will force us on more than one occasion to have to change position if we want to obtain a photograph with more realistic and less saturated colors, as in the image above, where the stones do not have that color so yellowish, but rather have in color from beach sand.

The weak point of the camera is found in HDR mode, where the sensor goes crazy when it comes to correctly measuring the area with the highest and lowest illumination and offers us a final combination of images that can be greatly improved. The front camera, 16 mpx, offers us a portrait mode that detects the face or faces of the subjects that appear in it and takes care of blurring the image in real time, with quite good results, despite offering just one camera.

Wiko Wim safety

In terms of security, the Wiko Wim offers us a fingerprint sensor on the front of the device, a sensor that does not work as well as we would like, since sometimes we must carry out the unlocking process in a slow way to be able to unlock the terminal without having to resort to using the unlock code. Perhaps if the size of it were larger, the operating problems of the unit that Wiko has given us would not be present or it may not be designed for large hands, as is my case.
