Safari browser no longer supports Spotify web player

Spotify

Currently Spotify is the absolute leader in streaming music services with more than 60 million paid subscribers and more than 100 million users of the free version of the same service. Spotify offers us the possibility of enjoying its music service from any device that comes to mind, hence it has become a service that everyone knows, although technology is not something that particularly catches your eye. .

As we can read in the Spotify forums, this streaming music service no longer compatible with the Safari browser for Mac, so that we cannot use the web version to be able to enjoy our favorite music with this browser, which will force you to install any other browser that is compatible.

Apparently everything is due to some changes that Apple has made in the operation of its browser, some changes that affect Google Widevine, a module used by Spotify to offer your music through the browser without having to install any other application. Safari has stopped offering support for this module, we do not know if it is intentional, since the company has not commented on it, so we do not know if it will return in future versions or we will have to stop using Safari to listen to our favorite music .

If you are a Mac user and you use Spotify as your streaming music provider, you can install the application that this platform offers us, an application with which we do not need to have the browser open at any time. Or you can use the Chrome 45+, Firefox 47+ and Opera 32+ browsers that if they offer support for this Google module that allows us to enjoy Spotify without having to install any other application. It is strange that Apple has made this move intentionally to try to attract users of the Swedish firm to hire its streaming music service, but we have seen weirder things.
