Samsung already allows deactivating the button dedicated to Bixby

One of the features that since its launch has bothered many users of the Samsung Galaxy S8, and now the Note 8, is the button dedicated to the Samsung assistant called Bixby, an assistant that was initially only available in Korean and has also been available in English for a few months.

Until now, there was no way to deactivate the dedicated button, so many users are they accidentally ended up activating it. Fortunately, it is already possible and the Koreans of Samsung finally allow us to completely deactivate this button, leaving the Bixby assistant to stop bothering them when we accidentally activate it.

Although at the moment the company has not announced any plan to replace the use made of the button, we hope that the guys at Samsung change their minds and when sooner the better, so that the users of the S8 and Note 8 can configure that button to for example open the camera directly without having to enter the device menus. Samsung's intention has been good but the lack of availability of Bixby in other languages combined with the availability of Google Assistant in Android, does not exactly encourage users to want to change assistant.

This option to deactivate the dedicated button arrives in update form, an update that will arrive independently in the countries where the Samsung Galaxy S8 is currently available and the Note 8 is soon available. At the moment we do not know when the update is due to be launched, but as soon as it is available in Spain, we will inform you promptly so that you can quickly deactivate the Bixby assistant button. While we wait for Samsung to allow us to use it for other purposes, although the latter is unlikely to happen since it would no longer make sense to offer a button for the assistant that can change its function to suit users.
