Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Vs LG G4, duel at the heights of the high-end

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Vs LG G4

The so-called high-end of the smartphone market has been renewed this year with large terminals, although most of them have not managed to convince users. Two of those who do seem to have managed to meet expectations and gain the good opinion of the majority are the Samsung Galaxy S6, in one of its two versions, and the LG G4.

In its day we already analyzed both mobile devices in great detail (Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Review y LG G4 review), but today we want to put them face to face to compare them and thereby help all those who want to buy one of these two terminals to decide.

First let's take a look at the main features and specifications of each of the two smartphones.

The differences in terms of characteristics and specifications we could say that they are very few and that is that we are facing two mobile devices of the so-called high-end. One of the few differences that we can find is in the processor, and that is that while the LG G4 uses the Snapdragon 808, Samsung has opted for its own processor for the first time that has given them very good results. It is important to say that in LG's mobile device, you notice a bit of lag on some occasions, especially when we force it very much, which is not noticeable in the Galaxy S6.

Video analysis of both terminals

Design, one of the great differences

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Vs LG G4 2

When buying a high-end terminal, and investing a good handful of euros, one of the things that has to convince us the most is its design. In this section the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge far exceeds the LG G4, despite the fact that it has improved a lot compared to its previous version and that the leather back cover gives it a very successful touch of elegance.

The Galaxy S6 finished in glass and aluminum, is simply beautiful and gives a feeling of a true Premium terminal. The LG G4 with plastic finishes gives the opposite feeling, and although it is not an ugly terminal, it is far from what Samsung has achieved.

Yes, the LG G4 will clearly be a terminal much more resistant to any fall or shock since the glass of the S6, although it does not seem anything flimsy, I do not think it will take too many blows. From my own experience I can tell you that the S6, as you can see in the image above, scratches very easily, especially in the aluminum frames, no matter how much you take care of it, which is a negative point of this spectacular design, but as they say you can't have everything in this life.

Performance

As we said before The Snapdragon 808 processor of the LG G4 may be a bit outdated, but for normal use it offers us very good performance. If we force it a bit with many applications open and many processes running, things get complicated and problems appear. In the S6 Edge the performance is perfect and we can carry out any activity without any problem.

Although we may think that the LG G4 is a bit below the Galaxy S6 in terms of performance, for normal use both terminals are very even and we will practically not notice the difference.

Camera

These two mobile devices mount a 16 megapixel sensor in their rear camera that both cases offer us results that are difficult to improve. I sincerely believe that it would be difficult to opt for one or the other and decide which device offers us better image quality. While the LG G4 offers us better colors, these being more true, the Galaxy S6 offers us a sharpness that at least I had never seen before in another terminal.

In addition, the LG G4 offers us the possibility of taking images of impressive quality in scenarios of little or no darkness, something that the S6 certainly does not reach. If I had to stay with one or the other, I think it would be fair to decree a technical tie.

If you want to see images taken with both terminals you can visit the reviews that we already did on both terminals and whose link is right at the beginning of this article.

Battery

Why do high-end smartphones always have to have a very important negative point?. The answer to this question is difficult, but the truth is that it is quite disappointing that a terminal that has cost us a huge amount of euros does not withstand a day of autonomy. In the case of the LG G4, things are more bloody and in my case the battery never reached me at the end of the day without its use being too high. But the Galaxy S6 and its 2.600 mAh battery are no wonder.

Undoubtedly, these two giants of the mobile telephony market have something pending, and it is necessary that for future terminals the battery is greatly improved.

Being benevolent, we could pass the battery test on both terminals, although with a very low grade and being a little higher, but little more, in the case of the S6 Edge.

Opinion freely, after testing both terminals

Before giving my opinion, freely about these two terminals, I have to say that I have tested both for about a month each, with both the LG G4 and the S6 Edge being my personal mobile device.

Honestly, I have found myself very comfortable with both smartphones, because they basically offer me what I am looking for in a terminal, which is nothing more than a large, high-quality screen, a high-performance camera and that I can do almost anything with it ( play a game, listen to music, or use social media and instant messaging applications). Anyone looking for something else is a weirdo and if one of these two terminals does not work for it, we can say that it is even rarer.

But, the point of deciding has arrived, and I honestly have to opt for the Galaxy S6 Edge even though its price compared to that of the LG G4 throws me back a bit and taking into account that the curves of the screen I don't like too much, mainly because of its little utility. In my opinion, its design is the best that has been seen in the market in recent times and ridicules the plastic of the LG G4. In addition, its camera, its power and performance, its interface and various utilities make this terminal a very, very good terminal.

Of course, as I usually say to everyone who asks me, The Galaxy S6 may be a 9.5, but the LG G4 is not far behind and it can be an 8.5 with a great price and very good benefits.

Is it worth spending a few euros more on the S6 Edge?

To end this article I could not leave without the most repeated question in recent weeks. And is that Many of you ask me if it is worth spending a few more euros on a much more careful design such as the Galaxy S6 Edge. I always answer the same and it is that this depends on each one since in a matter of taste everything can vary a lot and there will be those who like the S6 and there will be those who do not.

If I had money left over, I think I would not hesitate to compare the S6 Edge, but if I didn't have enough money or was a little stingy, I would go head to head for the LG G4 that will last me longer and as I usually say in a case, all mobile devices are just as ugly.

Villamandos, excellent comparison. I hope that when it comes out, it is rumored that for 28/07, the MEIZU MX5 PRO, please, you can make a review giving us your opinion of it. By the way, could you tell me a serious and reliable Chinese website that has a warehouse in Spain, that gives a GUARANTEE and with SAT in Spain? Thanks.
    Greetings.

      Thank you very much Luis.

We try to make the reviews and comparisons of the devices that they are lending us. Hopefully we have access to the Meizu MX5.

Regarding the Chinese website, you put me in a commitment and also has a difficult answer with everything you ask, I am sorry I cannot help you.

      A greeting!

I do not agree with the comparison. I think that both terminals are incomparable to each other because of how different they are. For someone who just wants a good mobile, anyone can do it, but the user who wants to consume content will value the G4 more because of the screen size. The same happens with those who want an interchangeable battery to alleviate the defect that both have with autonomy. Or the micro SD to store. In short, none is better than the other except in hardware where the S6 clearly wins but after use we see that there are no appreciable differences. And I say it knowingly because I have both. All the best.

      Hello Spawn80!

I think that I could even agree that both terminals are incomparable, but you will understand that we have to compare them to help everyone who wants to buy one or the other.

I think that the screen is based on taste, there are those who prefer a long one and others prefer a more square one. I don't see the battery thing as important having power banks at laughable prices. And finally, about the SD if I see it important, although I am one of those who with 16 GB on their smartphone has more than enough.

      A greeting!

If you compare design, be fair and compare the G4 with a leather case, because you are not comparing it with the normal S6 but with the Edge. As I read, the design for you is key, and as we all know this aspect is subjective (I had the Edge in my hands and it did not seem attractive or spectacular).
On the other hand, that of "a few euros more" in my country translates into 200 more euros of difference between the two.
In short, it seems to me a rather tendentious article.
    Greetings.

      Good morning William!

We compare the model that LG lends us. I have had the leather LG G4 in my hands and it is beautiful, but it is still plastic, I do not see that much difference with the one we have compared in this article.

I have not said that the design is key, but that it is the main difference between both terminals.

I'm sorry that you found it a biased comparison, it was not my intention at all.

      A greeting!

Clearly this comparison is not very neutral, you are a Samsung fanboy, the S6 has better performance thanks to its processor but in normal use of the system, both are on par even in normal tasks the g4 moves a little better. To say that the g4 is laggy is ironic to say the least, it is very well optimized unlike the s6 which is fucking great because it has a superior processor.

      Good morning Ivan!

Accusing me of being a Sasmung fanboy I think is the most wrong thing I have heard in a long time, if I am a fanboy of someone I am of LG, but hey each of you are free to think what you want.

I insist, the LG G4 at certain times and times has lag and it feels stuck.

      A greeting!

Good, I bought the Samsung s6 edge and after 15 days my hand fell and the screen exploded if it is going very well but the story that the screen will not break and the video of the hammer hitting the screen is a lie above I have insured it and mine was golden and they have sent it to me bluish black a decilution

    1.    Villamandos said

      Hi Olivia!

Totally agree, it is a smartphone that you can see from afar that is going to be much less resistant. I fell or rather slipped a couple of times and even from a very low height it got several important scratches.

A greeting and protest that they will have to give you your original color.
