Schneider SC300SND is a small, functional soundbar [Review]

Company Schneider is not in passing, we have seen a wide catalog of modern products but with a "vintage" design that quickly reminds us of the sixties with which it tries to position itself in a specific public obsessed by the retro design that is so fashionable these days , but it also offers a series of products in other areas such as computers and sound, away from the marked vintage design and focused on functionality and low cost.

We have a clear example in Stay with us to see the details of this Schneider product.

The first thing we do, as always, is place you at direct link of the product on Amazon where you can get it for less than € 50taking into account the constant offers that it suffers. This soundbar tells us a lot, so it's time to focus on its main features.

Materials and design of this soundbar

We find a simplistic design in black, while the front is dominated by the metal grille of the same color, on the sides and the back we have glossy black plastic, the so fashionable jet black loved by many and hated by others. As we well know, the main negative contribution of this type of plastics is precisely that it scratches easily even when we try to clean the dust, in fact this has been the case with our test unit, although we cannot avoid saying that the jet black or piano black looks good on almost everything. At the ends we find two perforations designed to enhance the bass, although in reality it does not have any type of active element that modifies the sound in this sense.

  • Size: 56,5 6 x x 6cm
  • Weight: 1,2 Kg

At the rear, the components and inputs are separated into modules made of a more resistant plastic but just as black. We have the traditional A / C input, a coaxial input, the USB and of course AUX. We also have the two slits that will allow us to use screws to leave the sound bar attached directly to the wall. However, at the bottom, located at the ends, we find small rubber feet that ensure a more traditional grip for a product that precisely needs it taking into account its functionality. The materials do not give us a bad feeling, quite the opposite. Less joys gives us the small remote control with button battery, excessively generic and prone to getting lost, despite the fact that it has most of the controls necessary to take advantage of all the product's features and even some that it does not even have (such as the HDMI ARC ).

Power and sound quality

The power is quite small if we take into account the size of the device, by this we do not mean that the product necessarily lacks sound strength, but taking into account its size, we believe that it could have been compacted much more. By this we mean that we have a 2.0 sound system composed of two 10W speakers (offering 20W in total) With 2-inch translators, it has a maximum sound pressure level of 88 dB and a response of between 40 Hz and 20 kHz in total. Thus, it also has three standard audio settings through the remote.

This sound bar is designed to comb around 20m2, although I recommend it rather for rooms such as bedrooms or offices. It is designed with the layout of your speakers in mind to be placed immediately below the TV as they are tilted slightly upward for obvious reasons. As we have said, at the sound level we cannot expect anything from the other world, but rather a versatile product due to its design. We have a sound in which the bass is clearly missed due to the lack of an active subwoofer and that can sound a bit canned at high powers, but it is perfectly defended if what we want is to have a sound bar in rooms such as bedrooms or an office under 32-inch monitors or screens.

Connectivity and versatility

As I have said in previous lines, if this product stands out for something, it is because of its versatility. The Bluetooth connection that we can manage even through the manual controls in the extreme right area will predominate, but we have much more, from a USB port that will serve as a charger, to a typical coaxial input (now almost obsolete) and the classic 3,5 mm AUX that works almost in any device today. No type of digital sound input such as optical, HDMI or similar beyond Bluetooth 4.2

  • Bluetooth 4.2
  • Connectivity LED indicator
  • Remote control
  • Coaxial input
  • USB output
  • 3,5mm AUX input

This is all that the Schneider SC300SND soundbar is capable of offering us at the connection level. That is, almost all televisions have a headphone output, it is true, but forget completely about HDMI, although it is something that we were not going to take advantage of with a 2.0 system that is not designed to offer great digital sound capabilities. If your TV has Bluetooth, it seems to me the most logical connection option.

Editor's opinion

As always, we have to enter to assess the best and the worst that the analysis of this product in question has left us.

Worst

Cons

  • Lack of digital audio
  • Fair power
  • Price

We start with what I liked the least, which has undoubtedly been the size it has if we know that it has only two speakers of two inches each, leaving us only 20W of power in total, as well as the total absence of digital audio inputs.

Best

Pros

  • Materials
  • Connectivity
  • Integrated

What I liked is that despite lacking digital audio inputs, it has some versatility in connections, and that materials seem 'premium»For those who seek good design above all else and are not a sound connoisseur.

It is a product at a fairly moderate price, which you can buy at traditional points of sale such as Worten, and even on amazon below 50 euros. However, I find it difficult to recommend it considering the price at which it already you can go through products like the Amazon Echo with similar powers but higher audio quality and increased connectivity at an identical price.
