Seagate talks about its new 14 and 16 TB hard drives

Seagate

According to recent statements by one of the senior officials of Seagate, the same company that not long ago boasted of having the capacity to create the largest capacity portable hard disk on the planet, it seems that his company would be working on creating new hard drives in HDD format, that is to say, traditional high-capacity hard drives that, contrary to what you might think, are still very popular due to their price content.

Apparently, today Seagate engineers are working on the implementation of technology based on helium that is already used by other manufacturers. Thanks to this they would have already managed to develop a HDD hard disk of 12 TB capacity Although, as has already been confirmed, the company's plans will not stop there as they will try to grow this capacity to 14 TB and even reach 16 TB capacity in a maximum period of 18 months.

Seagate wants to launch hard drives of up to 20 TB in capacity in 2020.

In the medium and long-term plan they want to follow at Seagate, they contemplate, by 2020, that they be able to start market 20 TB hard drives. As you can see, Seagate, at least in the medium term will continue to bet on the development of traditional hard drives, especially due to the price that an SSD has on the market today. For the speaker, an example of the latter and without leaving the options available in the catalog of this same manufacturer, while a 2TB HDD has a price of about 70 euros, for an SSD of the same capacity we should pay about 600 euros.
