Sense, the king of alarm clocks

Sense

We are in what could be called «Golden Age»For technology, in recent years we have witnessed revolutionary products, from smart coffee makers, bladeless fans, screens that add another dimension to your control, and above all, technology and art together, aesthetically minimalist products that do everything what do you imagine and more, products that carry the motto of "in simplicity is power".

Well, today I want to show you one of these works of art, which in addition to being beautiful is functional, I am talking about the alarm clock / sleep monitor Sense.

A company called Hello launched a year ago a Kickstarter campaign where it promised a compact alarm clock that would analyze not only your sleep, but the entire environment in which you do it to monitor and improve said activity. They did it with a clear message that reaches you, "we spend 1 third of our lives sleeping, and this time is vital for our health since a good rest depends on whether we can perform at our best and lead a healthy life."

Sense

With that message they hinted at each other, after leaving the ground ready, they proposed their product, «with Sense you can monitor all these hours you spend sleeping and know what happens while you are not conscious, you can know if you sleep well or badly, but not only that , but you will also be able to know why and how to change it.

Tempting, don't you think? Well, it seemed like that to me, and I was one of the brave who threw himself into contributing to his campaign. Today, finally, I can say that I have my sense at home (after a long wait while it was designed, tested, manufactured and shipped).

Do you want to see what Sense brings since you receive it? Well, take 10 minutes to see my unboxing, or else skip the video and we will talk about what this device does.

What is Sense?

A question that surely you are asking yourself, because the answer is fascinating, Sense is a device loaded with sensors capable of monitor both your night activity and the environment in which you do it, let me explain:

Sense consists of the main gadget «Sense»And the activity monitor«Sleep pill«. The main gadget is what will act as a monitor, it is the control center, it has sensors for humidity, temperature, sound (microphone), speaker, light sensor and sensor for dust and pollen particles. Sleep Pill is like an extension of Sense, this small capsule contains motion sensors such as an accelerometer and a gyroscope, said capsule is hooked to the pillow to be able to closely measure your movements while Sense is in charge of processing and merging them with the data of Your room.

Sense therefore, throughout the night, monitor your movements, the sounds in your room, the temperature, the dust or pollen particles in the environment, the humidity and the light, all this so that in the morning, once you wake up with some of its two modes (normal or smart alarm clock), have a complete report on your sleep, and most importantly, why you have slept in such a way (for example, at X hour there was a very loud sound that made you move, or at that time the luminosity was too high and you woke up, but that's not all, it can also tell you that you slept badly because your room was too hot or cold, humid, bright, or there was too much noise) and give you a score from 0 to 100 so you can better interpret how you slept.

Incredible, right? Well that's not all, Sense has WiFi and with Bluetooth, the first one is used to connect it to the router and therefore to the internet since the data collected is sent in a totally secure and anonymous way to the Hello servers where they are analyzed without the employees having direct access to them, that is, they do not go To be able to listen to us, they will not be able to know our score or schedules, it is simply analyzed on their servers and the data is sent to our smartphone wherever we are (because yes, Sense has an application for iOS and Android that allows us to see all this data , graphs, statistics and tips).

The second (Bluetooth) is used for Sense to communicate wirelessly with the tiny Sleep Pill sensor, a sensor that has a watch battery (can be replaced) that gives it up to a year of autonomy thanks to the protocol ANT used to communicate with sense without wasting energy.

Life with Sense is therefore much more productive, every night when you turn off the lights, Sense will light up in a different color depending on our environment (green if you can sleep well, yellow if there are any details that you should correct and red if you are not going to sleep well. unless you correct a few things), once Sense lights up green, we can go to sleep peacefully, at night Sense and Sleep Pill will join forces to measure even your slightest movement and find out what has caused it, being alert to any change that occurs in your room and the effects of said change on you.

Sense

Once the perfect time arrives (a combination between the time you have set and the best time to wake up, an interval of 30 minutes that will never go beyond the maximum time, the time you set on the alarm clock) Sense will play smoothly and ascending one of its multiple preloaded tones that will help you wake up with energy and in a soft way (when you wake up in your light sleep phase) and will illuminate your surroundings with a white pink light, without you suddenly waking up or too tired (sleep deep), all you have to do is pass your hand over Sense (without touching it) and with its proximity sensor it will know that you want to stop the alarm, if you want to know how you slept, just open the application on your smartphone and You will have a complete report about your night that includes the following data (temperature, humidity, dust and pollen, brightness and noise before going to sleep, time you turned off the lights, time you went to bed, time at that you fell asleep, sleep phases during the night, hours at which you moved, factors that have bothered you during the night, time the alarm clock rang, time you woke up, time you woke up raised and a score from 0 to 100 on your sleep), as you can see there is a lot of data, and that is only for one night, then we can see if we move more than the rest of the users (always anonymously), if we are going to sleep very late, if our room is warmer or colder than average, if there is a lot of light or noise in our room and even graphs on which day of the week we sleep better, which day we sleep more, etc ...)

And it doesn't end there, from Hello they have confirmed to me that they have plans to improve Sense by software (it does not require updating since the data processing is done on their servers), being able to record and listen to your snoring, adding support for HomeKit y IFTTT, and many more details that will allow us to take full control over these hours in which we are without being.

If you like what Sense promises, you can get yours on its official website, if it does not convince you, wait a week since I plan to do an analysis showing the data it has collected about me and everything it is capable of doing.
