How to set the on or off time on your Mac

Mac

If you have a fairly predictable schedule every day, it would be good for you to know how to schedule your Mac computer to shut down or wake up from sleep mode at certain times.

Apple systems are very quick to get in and out of sleep mode. Simply close the lid of a MacBook and, in a few moments, the laptop will go into sleep mode with the ability to stay that way for a week or longer just using the battery.

By opening the lid, in a few seconds you will be invited to authenticate. If you have a Apple Watch close and wear the same iCloud account on both devices, the Mac could authenticate automatically without having to enter the login password.

Anyway, much more useful than the function detailed above is the possibility of programming the moment at which the Mac should turn off or leave the sleep mode.

Schedule Mac Power On and Off

Hidden in section Energy saving / Economizer (from the English Energy Saver) in the system configuration menu you can find an option that allows you to define with great precision the hours of activity in which your Mac should be started.

When it comes to waking up from sleep mode or booting from scratch, the equipment must be connected to a power source, but this detail is already evident. It would be useless to have the MacBook off in your backpack and start it up because you programmed it a few days before and forgot it programmed.

To schedule your Mac to turn itself off or on at certain times, the first step is to go to the System Preferences. In the second row of icons, click on the Saver and access the section Schedule that is on the right below.

As in the screenshot that we added in this article, you will have two options at your disposal. Brand The first option if you want the system to start from scratch or to come out of sleep mode at a certain time. Brand the second option if you want to automate the time at which the computer will enter sleep mode or shut down completely. You can choose to have this scheduling rule applied at any time, only on days of the week, on weekends or on any of the days of the week.
