Sharkoon Skilller SGM3, a gaming mouse with good value for money

An infinity of products pass through our hands, home automation, mobile telephony, various gadgets ... We could not miss the gaming product, one of the ones we like to try the most because we know that in this way we can help you decide within a market that has many alternatives. This time we are with a product from Sharkoon, the German firm that has a long history in developing components for PC gaming and for some time also peripherals at a reasonable price. We have on the table the Sharkoon's Skiller SGM3, the third generation of a gaming mouse that is now also wireless, discover in this review everything you need to know about it before considering your purchase.

As always, in case you are already clear or decided that you are going to get a unit of this product, we recommend purchasing it through Amazon from 39,99 euros (link), or bet directly on the official website of Sharkoon to know it in detail as well as the different physical and usual points of sale where to find their products. Now take a seat because we are going to show you detailed pictures of this Sharkoon Skiller SGM3, are you ready?

Materials and design: Sober but effective

We find a gaming mouse with a fairly sober and aggressive design. The German firm has always been characterized by making its products look attractive but without entering the absurd opulence that is so common in the market. This mouse has dimensions of 124,5 x 67 x 39 mm and is made entirely of polycarbonate. Except for the scroll wheel, which is made of aluminum covered with rubber to offer better grip. We can buy it in four different colors, all in a matte finish to offer greater cleaning and grip: White, gray, black and olive green. We are facing a mouse that without the cable connected weighs 110 grams, quite light.

We have some buttons integrated into the case, and a fairly well distributed weight. The bottom has 4 interchangeable scroll pads (includes in-house spares) and with the indicator of Charges mouse Qi. The buttons all have a good resort, even the central slider that will allow us to adjust the DPI. The mouse in the central part presides the Sharkoon logo conveniently illuminated through a RGB LED that will also serve as a battery indicator and of course, as an indicator of the selected DPI. We can adjust the LED lighting parameters through its software available for download (link).

General Specifications and Available Buttons

We find a mouse that offers good use both at the "gaming" level and for daily use, personally I have combined it these days to work and play at the same time, not finding limitations in any of its aspects, the design being Sober as well as aggressive, it can be used on a day-to-day basis without discomfort. It has a 2,4 GHz wireless adapter, the typical USB without any more frills, offering through its optical sensor a minimum of 600 DPI and a maximum of 6.000 DPI that we will adjust using the slider, the chip that controls the device is the ATG4090 with a maximum rate of 1.000 Hz polling and a 2 millimeter reading distance. It is compatible with Mac and Windows interchangeably, although the "gaming" software will run on Windows.

We have a total of seven buttons among the main ones, the DPI slider that is also a button, the one on the wheel and the two sides. Side buttons are OMRON and all of them are programmable through the indicated software. They are prepared to endure nothing less than 10.000 million clicks, so you will not have problems in that aspect.

In the variety is the taste: Wired, wireless and even Qi charging

We conspicuously count on this Skiller SGM3 that costs less than 40 euros with Qi wireless charging technology, so any mat that has this capacity will prevent the discharge of its 930 mAh battery nothing less, which offers an autonomy of 40 hours approximately and that in our tests it adjusts to reality, minutes up, minutes down, depending on the RGB LED configuration, usage and other parameters. Nevertheless, the most purists see in this of wireless charging and wireless connection a handicap for use, and although it does not appear to offer any delay, these will also meet your needs.

If we deem it convenient we will be able to use it through its MicroUSB to USB connection, it includes a braided cable of an approximate length of 1,5 meters According to our measurements, it is gold-plated and will provide maximum connection without interference as well as permanent autonomy. Everything will depend on our needs and tastes, in my case I have personally chosen to use it in its wireless version and the result has been satisfactory.

User experience and editor's opinion

As I said before, I have been using this mouse indistinctly in macOS as in Windows, I have to say that in Windows, thanks to the software provided, the options are more and better, but in macOS I have had to use it on several occasions to carry out day-to-day work editing and writing, without any problem. As for its main function is the game, With the settings of your software we get a pretty good experience, it is hard to believe that it costs «only 40 euros» when the competition is offering similar features almost twice as much, here Sharkoon has wanted to stand out.

Cons

  • I miss wheel scrolling options
  • There could be some more side button
  • Good top but not side gumming

Pros

  • Good contents of the box, everything thought out
  • Quality of materials and keypad
  • Well-tuned software
  • Qi charge and great autonomy

It is clear that it is not the most striking or spectacular, nor has it ever been the intention of Sharkoon who seems to opt for the most serious gaming public, but the ergonomics are good enough to be comfortable for all intents and purposes, the design is neat and the materials match the price of the product. Mainly highlights the DPI selector and the precision of the wheel. It goes without saying that the mouse glides correctly both with and without the mouse pad and I have not encountered any connectivity or precision problems during the time that the tests have lasted.

You can get it from 39,99 in THIS LINK with the guarantee that Amazon offers and you will have it at home the next day.
