Sharp to launch its 70-inch TV with 8k resolution in Europe

When to this day it is still impossible to enjoy DTT in real HD, most (if not all) do it through a rescaling of the image, some manufacturers have begun to launch on the market, not only televisions in 4k resolution, a resolution that we can take advantage of thanks to video services streaming like Netflix or Amazon Prime, but also in 8k.

The 8k resolution is four times that of 4k resolution, and there is currently no content, other than movies that are shot at this resolution and never reach the market in that format for obvious reasons. Sharp presented last year a 70-inch TV with 8k resolution, a model that will finally arrive in Europe, as the company has announced and will do so this April.

As expected, this TV will be anything but cheap, since its final price is 11.999 euros and since last year it was for sale in China and Japan. Europe seems to be the last destination of this model, since it does not plan to launch it in the United States, since according to the company, there is no market for this type of product.

The Sharp LV-70X500E, with a 7.680 x 4.320 pixel resolution It is the model with the highest resolution we can currently find on the market and it is sold to the general public. This resolution offers us a density of 125 points per inch, a color gamut that covers 79% of the ITU-BT-2020 standard and a color space used in the format in streaming video services and UHD Blu-ray.

This model is made up of 216 independent areas, it offers us support for HDR and HDR10, and has a maximum brightness of 1.000 nits with a contrast of 1.000.000: 1. In terms of connections, the LV-70X500E offers us 4 HDMI 2k / 4k connections and another 4 destined to the input of content in 8k resolution in a combined way. If you have the 12.000 euros it costs, it is assumed that you will also have enough space to install this model that has dimensions of 156,4 cm x 96,7 cm (including the base) and a weight of 42,5 kg.

In Japan, they are doing everything possible so that the next Olympic Games are broadcast in this resolution, unfortunately it is more than likely that the only way to enjoy these games will be if we live in the country, since the networks of most countries they are not compatible and less in Spain as I have commented at the beginning of this article.
