Tag Heuer has been one of the designer watch brands that made a serious bet last year on smartwatches. A type of device that have not yet fitted the needs of users all over the planet and who are seen and wanted to try to get something that captures the attention of the ordinary public.
Designer watch brand Tag Heuer will launch a new smartwatch in May this year, just as it is about to turn one year after the launch of its first Android Wear watch referred to as Connected. With this new Tag Heuer smartwatch will join that string of manufacturers that will launch Android Wear 2.0 on their watches.
This information comes from Jean-Claude Biver himself, CEO of the company, given in a recent interview. He also did not give much information apart from what would be some characteristics such as that it will have GPS, longer battery life, better reception and an improved screen. The watch is expected to ship with Android Wear 2.0, an update that should be available early next month.
The CEO has also revealed that the company has distributed a total of 56.000 units of the watch called Connected that he launched a year ago and that came at a price that we are not used to in this type of wearables, 1.500 dollars. Best of all, expected sales for this Connected smartwatch doubled, so now the firm expects to distribute up to 150.000 units of that new smartwatch with Android Wear 2.0.
Android Wear 2.0 is expected be a great version that improves the user experience that now occurs in a wearable that still many do not really see a particular use for their day to day when they have their smartphone in their pants pocket.
