Google's Nexus family could go on living

Google

For several months, most of the media have assumed that the Nexus range was about to disappear completely, since the Mountain View company would bet on a new family that it already uses in Chromebooks called Pixel, terminals manufactured by the manufacturer HTC and that will see the light next October 4. But it seems that this is not the case, according to the tweet published by one of the main editors of 9to5Google in which he states that Nexus has not died, without offering more information about it, but which raises several doubts.

The Nexus family has always been characterized by offering at a reasonable price, although not last year's models, an upper-middle-range terminal. But with the arrival of the Pixel and Pixel XL, of which we know practically all their characteristics days before the company presents them, Google seems that wants to enter the competitive high-end market where only Samsung and Apple are. Perhaps Pixel is Google's high-end while Nexus will remain the upper-middle range.

Perhaps Google's idea of starting to manufacture its own devices will be preceded by a new denomination to try to differentiate the Nexus range, economical with good performance, from the high-end range, Pixel, a little more expensive than the Nexus range but offering terminals with very good specifications. In this way and relying on other manufacturers, the company prepares the way for next year to start designing and manufacturing its own devices, an intention that to date has not been confirmed at any time by Google but it seems that it is the way that the company will follow for the launch of its future models.
