Twitter Lite for Android is now a reality

Emerging markets have become the main focus of attention of many technology companiesWhether they are smartphone manufacturers, software developers or online services such as social media. Just over a year ago, Mark Zuckerberg's company launched a lite version of Facebook, an application that consumes much less resources than the application available for Android, ideal for low-end devices found in these countries. Almost a year later, it is Twitter that has begun to test its lite version, although this time it is only available in the Philippines.

These lite versions are applications that hardly take up space on the terminals, reduce data consumption to the maximum and are also even faster than the applications available so far. Twitter wants to get out of the 300 million active users at once, a figure in which it has been anchored for several years, and for this it wants to start expanding in emerging countries where the terminals available have very fair features and do not allow the use of the application currently available.

This type of versions works smoothly on 2G networks, just like Facebook lite, and also they do not download the images unless the user wishes, allowing to save data in the adjusted data rates of these countries. The launch of this version has been made in the Philippines, but Android is an ecosystem that facilitates the installation of applications, so it is very likely that in a few hours, we can access the apk to install it on our device and start enjoying Twitter saving on data and resources of our terminal, although fortunately this application is not the sink of data and consumption that is Facebook.
