We tested Aukey's USB-C Hub, an 8-port all-in-one perfect for the new MacBook M1 [REVIEW]

One of the big problems I found when getting the new MacBook Pro with M1 processor was the lack of ports, an increasingly frequent problem since the fashion, especially in Apple, is to launch devices with fewer and fewer ports. The boys of Aukey must have read my mind and provided us with their new 8-port USB-C Hub.

An interesting Hub 8 in 1 with which you will stop having the problem of the lack of ports on your computers. Simplicity hand in hand with versatility in a product from one of the fastest growing brands in the technological ecosystem. Keep reading that we tell you all the details of this Aukey USB-C Hub.

Everything must be said, it is a Hub, do not expect something out of the ordinary, a Hub with 8 ports that will basically solve all port problems that we can have on any device. It is Plug and Play so we will only have to connect it to a USB-C port for Aukey to do all the magic necessary for our peripherals to work.

As you can see in the photographs, the device is quite elegant, in a «space black» very similar to the color that Apple makes its Macs. At the top we will see a single status led that does not disturb at all, y on the sides we have all the ports that the boys of Aukey offer us.

As you can see in the previous gallery, we have the following ports:

  • USB-C with Power Delivery which will also allow you to charge your Mac if you are using the other remaining USB-C port for another device.
  • Port HDMI compatible with 4K resolutions.
  • 3 USB-A ports (2 of them 3.0 marked in blue).
  • One SD card slot, very useful considering that less and less laptops include it.
  • MicroSD card slot.
  • Ethernet port, with two LEDs that will mark the status of the connection (we cannot disable them but they don't bother too much).

As you can see, we can not miss any portHowever, we must be careful if we use all of them at the same time, especially so that the Hub gets hot and does not work properly. As a bad part I will also say that it is a USB-C Hub, it is not Thunderbolt 3, but obviously at the price that is marketed it is a great option. Thunderbolt 3 allows higher speeds and is usually externally powered.

Another of the pros of this 8-in-1 USB-C Hub is its size, very portable, and also the guys from Aukey provide us with a elegant carrying case and with which to also protect the USB-C cable of the Hub. Without a doubt, a detail that is appreciated.

No products found., as I tell you it is a very good option for anyone who has bought a new MacBook Pro or Air with M1 processorIn the end the ports are limited and with a Hub of these characteristics we have more than solved the problem with the ports. The price is usually between € 35 although you can find it on occasion close to € 20. I recommend it to you, I already tell you that it is not a thunderbolt HUB but for most of the cases in which you need an extra port you have enough left over.
