Na de verlegenheid en verdoving veroorzaakt door de VGX van vorig jaar, Geoff Keighley besloot zijn pad te scheiden van Viacom en Spike TV en te werken aan een ceremonie waarin videogames echt centraal stonden. Zo werd geboren The Game Awards, een initiatief dat de journalist met meer dan 20 jaar ervaring (en af en toe een controverse onderweg) uit eigen zak zal financieren en waarmee hij de investering hoopt terug te verdienen dankzij de verkochte tickets om het volgende evenement bij te wonen December 5 In Las Vegas. Bovendien heeft het de steun en steun van de overgrote meerderheid van de groten uit de branche.
Dat is de reden waarom men, rekenend op zoveel persoonlijkheden en bedrijven uit de hele wereld, een programma hoopt te vinden dat, ondanks die televisiefunctie niet buiten beschouwing laat, videogames als wachtwoord heeft.
