SPC Zeus 4G Pro, a highly recommended smartphone for the elderly

Smartphones are a tremendous help for users around the world, but just as they have many doors to open for those more accustomed to their use, they are considered a communication barrier for many users, especially for elderly users. that they find in these devices authentic Martian technology of which they do not seem to be a part.

SPC has decided to bring mobile technology closer to the elderly with the SPC Zeus 4G Pro, a senior smartphone with incredible features. Find out with us because we have found it to be a tremendous success when it comes to covering a niche of users that until now were completely abandoned by mobile manufacturers.

Materials and design

SPC has made it very clear, the device must be light, resistant and easy to use, something that is faithfully reflected in the design of this device. SPC Zeus 4G Pro. For this reason we have a device made of black polycarbonate. It is striking that we have a removable back cover (we go back to 2008) and the battery comes to us separately, in the contents of the box.

We have dimensions of 158*73*9,8 millimeters for a total weight of only 154,5 grams. It feels light, strong and easy to handle. We do not have, however, any type of water resistance accreditation, something that matches the price end of the product.

The content of the box is: Zeus 4G Pro, battery, user manual, charger, USB cable, charging base, silicone case and earphone. As you can see, it lacks absolutely nothing. It is appreciated that it has a charging base that will make it easier for the elderly to put it in their station daily. It does not require a special placement, it has two charging pins that will make it practically impossible not to do it right, facilities for the elderly, that is what it is about here.

Headphones are appreciated, necessary for the use of FM Radio, la cover, which could be difficult to find otherwise, and a charger, something less and less common by other manufacturers.

The phone has a front with frames and a 5,5-inch screen, accompanied by three large buttons (answer calls, menu and back). A shortcut to a separate flashlight remains for the left bezel, while the right bezel is dedicated to the volume and lock buttons. Finally, at the bottom we have the USB-C, the charging pins and the 3,5mm Jack.

In the back, the leading role is for the camera with its LED Flash and a key button, the SOS, which will allow the user to send a predetermined message to their emergency contacts at the same time as making a call to the emergency services.

Technical characteristics

The device mounts the 6761GHz Quad-Core MT22V Helio A2 processor manufactured by MediaTek and runs Android 11 thanks to its 3GB of RAM. At the connectivity level we have 4G networks, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and of course 2,4GHz and 5GHz WiFi, the most commonly used networks.

We are allowed to take advantage of connectivity Dual SIM or the storage slot for microSD cards that will give us the possibility of increase your 32GB ROM storage.

In terms of graphics performance, we are offered the IMG GE8300 GPU, but this is not the most relevant, this phone is not designed to open our mouths with the characteristics, its audience and needs are very different.

Easy mode for seniors

Easy Mode is one of the first configurations that the device itself opens for us when configuring it. I personally recommend that you make all the necessary adjustments before handing over the device to its end user. Once we have agreed to use the SPC “Launcher” dedicated to the elderly, the user interface is greatly simplified, showing us a list of applications in XXL size.

One of the features is "apps", and this is notIt allows you to choose precisely which applications we want to be displayed in easy mode.

All supported by your panel 5,5-inch IPS LCD, which I miss a little more brightness for outdoors. It has a pretty nice 18:09 aspect ratio, for a sufficient HD+ resolution of 1440x720, giving us a pixel density of 294 PPI.

Autonomy and cameras

We have a "small" 2.400 mAh battery that is sufficient for the use that the device is going to give. We will have to charge it daily, an easy task with its 7,5W USB-C charger and its charging base that we have talked about previously. The total charging time will be around two hours.

The camera will not focus this analysis either. We have a single 13MP sensor of which we do not know the manufacturer and whose results are what can be expected from a device of these characteristics, enough to get by. The front camera is 5MP, both with FullHD video recording and that will allow us to carry out decent video calls.

Dedicated to those who need it

We have a series of functionalities that make the difference in a device with these characteristics:

  • Notifications to a third party: The device will send a notification to a trusted contact if it detects that a call is not answered or the battery is below 15%.
  • Smart ring setting: The device will increase the volume if a missed call is not answered. It will then return to the level it was set to.
  • Remote configuration: By sending SMS codes it is possible to make remote adjustments without the need for additional actions.
  • Easy-to-use phonebook with favorite contacts.
  • SOS button for automatic communication.

Editor's Opinion

From my point of view, SPC has achieved success, bringing this type of technology closer to the elderly, the users with the most difficulties for them. There are many advantages both for the user and for the people who are in charge of administering the system. Without a doubt, from 149,90, which is its price on Amazon and spc official website, you will gain peace of mind and your friend will reach a new status at the level of communication.
